Default gas milage with a cam

i was wondering what kind of gas milage people were getting with a certain size cam ive got a 2000 ta with m6 and 410's. i was thinking about going with a either a 224/224, 224/228, or a 228/228 and on a112 lsa what kinda gas milage would i be looking at with those cams.

I am having 9" (w/410's) and a 238/244 114 lsa put on my 99 Ws6 (m6) as we speak. Guy at the shop told me that i should expect 15-20% decrease in gas mileage. I figure the effect would be significantly less with your realitively mild cam. It will also depend on whether or not your tuned. If untuned, the car may run rich which would obviously decrease your mileage.

i just ran an 800mile trip with my cammed ls1

stock gears and not the greatest part throttle tune, and i knocked down 24mpg both directions.

that was going 75-85mph with quite a bit of traffic (speed fluctuated alot), and the return trip was with the ttops off (which i've seen cut 1mpg off the average).

you should still be in mid 20s with the 410s and any of those cams.

My other motor had a 224/224, M6, and 4:33s in the back. In town driving really depends on your shifting. The cam tends to make the car jerk at lower RPMs, but could hold 4th in town around 35mph no problem. Got about 13-15 depending on how I drove.

Never drove the car on the interstate much so not sure there.

20mpg overall with a mix of highway and city driving. The tune really sucks though. I'm waiting to get my heads on and then get it tuned right.

Lets see now average 22+- mpg on a high performance car pulling between 360-425 RWHP sounds pretty good to me. If your looking for good gas mileage don't spend thousands making horespower buy a Prius......

Check my sig as I have most of the equipment you're reffering to as well as a dyno graph in there somewhere. I get 24 mpg on the highway and a combined 18 city/highway. Now you do realize that your right foot does gain weight with these mods. That's when you drop down to 10 or less mpg, but it's fun for sure.

I use to be about 19 city/28 highway, now I'm about 12 city with a great tune and a 226/226 112 cam. I may have thought a little different on my cam selection and route to horsepower had I known how bad the mileage would be.

I have got 22 - 23 running from Grand Rapids to Cleveland. I was running 80 in 6th from here to Toledo, and 70 in 5th from there to Cleveland. On the road course at Grattan last fall I got 5 mpg. Your fun factor will dictate gas mileage more than part selection will.

I don't know what mine is but it's safe to say that it is not good. Around town I think I'm getting about 150 miles per tank. So maybe 10 mpg.

In VA, you will get better milage than I do here in New England. I got great milage when I went to VA Beach for a vacation. Don't remember exactly what it was.

With a 232/236 373 M6 and a fat tune, I'm getting 24/15.
