Stock out of the box, the LS6 head out flows the LS1 head buy about 30 some odd cfm's and extends the flow area by about .100 of an inch, also the LS6 heads have .4 more compression over the LS1 car head.

Typical ported LS6 vs LS1 S2 car or truck head, the flow numbers are virtually identical, slight benifit towards the Z06 casting from what I've heard, but not seen. The Z06 head will always have the edge on the compression side vs the car head. Hope that helped?

Joe.

best choice to go with i think is 5.3's, cheap core, 10.8 to 1 compression stock, i think the ls6's are 10.5. With ls6 heads be ready to blow 1200 on cores and another 2 grand on the port job. Main difference that is noticable is the exhaust ports, and i think they still flow the same. LS6 has an edge on the ls1's stock. Ported you can get, from what i have seen maybe 10-15 more cfm up to .700 lift.

You can get CNC LS6 heads milled 0.055 & assembled for <$2k w/ no core. These give ~11.2:1 compression. According to ARE, @550 mine were 302 intake and 216 exhaust (& still climbing) before being tweaked.
