Check out this C5R engine....
I saw this over on corvetteforum. Jeremy over @ LGM posted it. It is a Katech engine. It has C5R heads, check out that intake...
The fuel rail is a C5R part. C5R heads that flow 350CFM. The intake manifold is a custom sheet metal job that has been paintied. Currently it has a stock size TB. As delivered by Katech this engine is 50k. It is a solid roller with 12.0:1 compression fed a pure diet of 110 octane. It is in a 2002 Z06, and uses stock accesories. It does not have LGM headers, it has a competitors. This project was dropped off @LGM to put some finishing touches and TLC into. Also although it is a solid roller, the cam is small than the cam used in the 418SR package that does 515RWHP through an LS6 intake.
Here is a quote from Bowery Boy that I thought was interesting:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Godspeed,
That intake look sincredibly similar to the LS2 intake from the C6 spy shots I have seen. The runners look identical. The goose neck looks to be modified to handle the current TB.
Only news on availability and pricing for the manifold?
This is the biggest opp for improvement on my 422.
This was a custom sheet metal job by Katech as the heads are C5R. From what I understand it's like pulling teeth to get Katech to do custom work like this, and I believe this customer has 50k in just the engine. If it has any connections to the C6 intake, I could not publicly say.
For those that were curious it put out 529RWHP and 498RWTQ yesterday. We still have some more tweaking to do and hopefully will have the opporutnity to install our headers.

Re: Check out this C5R egine....
Remeber, it has a stock sized TB, and it has non-LGM headers. Most headers for the C5 are not all that great as they have short primaries that give up HP.

no ****. looks good, but 12k-dollar 42x motors are making 550+, hell, 38x all bores are making more than 500rw. Now, if you were to say it make 570rw after tuning and headers...i could see that being a little better.

Its still using a STOCK, unported TB. This seems to be the current bottle neck, as well as the Marine 44# injectors that we are dialing in
It made 641 on the engine dyno with the C5R intake and the baby cam. 550 to come no sweat with a few more bolt ons

The Katech motor cost a whole lot more than $12k, thats for sure.
I was there Saturday when it dyno'd 529rwhp. I think most people were expecting a bit more, but its not your standard LS1 combo so it'll probably come with more tuning. Godspeed would know more about it.

Not knocking anyones ride but i too have a hard time swallowing 50k for the engine.. NOT including any of the custom fabrication, shop time.. etc that it takes to do a project like this. everyone has their dream cars and having the coin to do this i probably would.. just to do it.. but still that is a lot of money for an engine that probably won't see 10,000 miles before it is due for a rebuild.. i would expect 700+ HP at the tire for 50K... i would have opted for a TT Lingenfelter... at least 650 on pump gas.. I am sure it has more in it and it will run all day at 7500 rpm... hope the owner gets his money's worth on how it drives... what else is done to the car? body kit, brakes, wheels?? i would liek to see pics of a 150K vette..

Re: Check out this C5R egine....
pretty sure colonel told me a long time ago that his flowed close to 350. could be wrong though. let me search. looking at tony's sheet, it looks like more than halfway up between 300 and 350 cfm at .650 lift. don't know what bore, but I think tony had 2.08" valves. so on a 4.125" bore with at least 2.10" valves, C5R heads in all their glory should be better than 350cfm, but thats just me.

So heres a weird question....
Why the stockish valve covers? Surely they have jesels or the like under there? I want aware the stock valvecovers fit on C5R heads. I have owned a set of the C5R covers, and they dont look anything like that. I guess Im sort of baffled as to what is up.

this is like the $25K ZL1 option in the 02 Camaros that only made 500rwph .........
If I spend $10K (let alone $25 or $50!!!!!!!!).....I had better get A LOT of hp for it!!!!!!

Didn't you guys read Louis' response. The motor made 640 with another intake and a small cam....
Hello, is 640 ok??? Just goes to show how much HP is locked up in the intake...
As for header length, there are several calculators (www.prestage.com) out there, but 32.5 is just about perfect for a 346 (ala LGM headers. For a 427 that turns 7000 w 1.75 38" for 1.825 35" is optimal.

Re: Check out this C5R egine....
its missing the kinser fuel injection manifold i was at katech engine development last year and they supposadly added an extra 50 hp even with the little 1 inch restrictions on the front of each air box.
I have been looking into putting a kinsler manifold on my car, they can change the port on the intake to match the ls-1 heads. On the negative side i would need an aftermarket computer and possable have some clearence issues under the hood.
