Which "Big" cam/gears in a 2700# 6 sp 346?
Right now I'm finishing up an LS1 RX7. I'm going to do cam/intake and probably 243 heads as soon as I get it running. I have an LS6 intake, 1 7/8" headers, true 3" duals, right now the motor is stock 2000 Z28(853 heads), 50K miles. The car will see the strip but it won't live there, most of the time it will probably be on the street w/ either a 26" ET street or a 275/50 drag radial. I don't anticipate the car weighing any more than 2800# with me in it. I was thinking about going w/ 3.73 or 3.90 gears and one of these cams:

I know all of these cams are huge, are going to surge and have no torque, etc. My last Mustang had a Vic JR intake, Holley 750 DP, and a 249/258 .540/.554 cam in it and I loved it on the street. I'd like to know which cam is going to get me down the track fastest and/or make the most power. Area under the curve might not matter as much in a lighter car and I'd rather have the power on top since I'm somewhat limited on tire size. Thats why I'm also figuring a 3.73 or a 3.90 gear will be OK since I'll have a 26 instead of a 28 on it. If anyone thinks any other cams would be better let me know also. Thanks-Nick

All of those cams are of comparable size and will achieve your goals. The T-Rex is the biggest and has the potential to make the most power. All will fit stock heads without fly-cutting, but once you add ported heads with larger valves and/or higher compression, piston to valve clearance gets too tight and you will need to fly cut your pistons.
If you go with ported high compression heads and don't want to fly-cut, you can consider a slightly smaller cam (like a G5X3 on a 112LSA).

Flycutting isn't a problem, I have the tools and have done it on a few motors. What clearance are people using w/ LS1's? I've used .080" intake/exhaust in the past. Has anyone used these cams w/ smaller(numerically) than 4.10 gears and a 6 speed?

My Mega Death from HPE is 244/242 .612/.610 112lsa. I am a m6 and it worked great with my Stock heads. I am putting on Patriot 59cc II ls6 heads (old casting ) and they have clearance. I am also running stock gearing and I did not lose any low end torque, actually gained across the board.

I have an LS1 Mustang that is close to your specs. 2730 without me in it (I'm 210 lbs); 3.73's/T56, stock 241 heads w/ MS4 and a FAST 90/90. Before the FAST setup, the car ran a best 11.74 @ 122.5 on a cold track on a 275/50/15 DR (w/ a laughable 2.0 60'). I just added the FAST setup last month and will swap on some stock 243's this weekend, I would suspect that it will pick up a bit more power.

Im running 4.10's in my T-rexd powerd full bolt on camaro. For me its a perfect gear for the cam. It not too steep and i still have a hell of a top end for the vettes that wanna have a go at it with a heavier car
