The "redesigned" 918's are still breaking from what I have read on here. They have had too many quality problems for me to trust them. Which is a surprise coming from comp. Go with PAC (the original/dependable 918's) or PSI if your gonna run singles.

I have heard that also, but have not seen any proof yet.
I just don't understand why they can't come up with a good 918. We did all the hard work with the design and testing. Then they gave up trying to copy our original and went with a total redesign. Which I've heard from a few people at PRI they've had problems with too.

I pull off in the morning with the car cold and I even run up the rpms' cold sometimes. Plus I have over 20K on my springs. Thats why i run dual springs and would suggest it to anyone thats going to go through the hassle of replacing springs in the first place. There are barely any bad stories involving dual springs.

I'm running duals, I've got 15k miles on it since putting them on, had to run the car in -8F weather once, gave it 2 min before I had to drive and nothing broken. Mind you I didn't beat on it, kept the rpm under 2500 but I still drove at highway speeds.
Duals give that piece of mind that in the event it does break, you still have a chance to save the head and some headache.

A couple basic questions regarding the topic of this particular thread:
1. How did you know that the spring was broken? In other words, what noises did you hear or what indications were there to tell you there was a problem?
2. What other problems could occur from this spring failing?

Wow! I have to wonder how many miles are on your engine.
Sorry about your misfortune, but it could have been much worse.
As long as that connecting rod is not bent, and the engine still turns,
you should still be able to run that bottom end.
Maybe clean the block deck and decarbonize the pistons ( if possible )
than blow it all out with air, to remove all debries. Maybe a slight dremel
action on the ridges.
Freshen up the heads, a new valve, new springs.
OR ???? --------> $$$
