That was a 60s and 70s speed thing. I once saw a VW engine with roller bearing modded crank. Not sure if the very slight reduction in friction is gonna be worth the cost for a cam.

I think roller bearings are kinda a bandaid for poor oil systems. Yeah, you will lose some friction if you do it on a cam, but hydrodynamic bearings are pretty low friction when oil is between the surfaces. What its really for though is so that you no longer need forced oiling for the cam. The bearings are more than happy with splash oiling returning from the lifter valley. IMHO these were for the days when oil pumps were problematic at higher RPM's and every bit of oil possible needed to go to mains/rods.
*edit*
BTW, 80-90% of friction in a motor is from the rings, not bearings.

Well I'm the damn cam bearing poster child for 2007. I spun/backed out 2 sets last year and the fix seens to be the new LSX motor from GM. It has oversized cam bearings compared to the LS1/LS6. Roller Cam Bearings? They are overkill for sure! We don't turn past 7,000. NASCAR yes, street ride overkill.
