$6,000 to spend what should i get?
99 Z28 6-speed All Stock Except For Superchip, Short Shifter, K&n Cold Air Intake. I Got 6 Grand To Spend I Want To Stay Smog Legal And All Motor No Nos Or Turbo Or Superchargers But I Want To Go Fast What Should I Get? Please Help.........

First thing you should do is sell that Superchip or whatever the hell that thing is. Get a exhaust, I guess you could run shorties or mid length headers and a good catback. Get a custom grind cam from Pat G. or Predator some aftermarket heads. There's a bunch of options as far as heads go but AFR and Trickflow seem to be the cream of the crop. A ported Fast 92/92 and a dyno tune.

6 grand hmmm... are you doing the work yourself or no? if ur doing it urself i would do a nice h/c/i set up with all bolt ons. a set of some m/t drag radials and a 12 bolt rear end and some suspension work. after that i would save for a tranny and you should be happy.... until you get used to it and then want more

its hard to stay smog legal on these um you might be able to do a intake/cam/heads/exhaust with mid or shorty headers and good tune (Should get you to 375-420 hp maybe more) pass in CA i'm no expert just an idea and btw what i mentioned should be under $4,500 just parts if you pay for the install youre probably going to have to pay an extra $1,300. And you wont be far from having to replace that stock rear end

^ he would make more than that with a cheater cam only. Damn man don't scare the guy. If you go cam heads and intake I would say he should be about 420 range would be my guess.

Being in cali and just finishing a similar project, if u want to go fast, find someone to smog it for you. Some afr heads, fast intake, nw tb, custom cam, full exhaust, and if u want to go fast, replace ur stock rear suspension: tq arm, panhard rod, lcas w/ relocation brackets. The list goes on and on. You can hit 450rwhp, but ur not going to be smog legal. And trust me you will want more, I did after 2 months.

Buy a rear end first so you won't have to worry about buying one later on when you break it! But a 12 bolt, drive shaft, et streets, and converter with all the other nick nack junk that you can buy along with it(gears, clutches, etc). Then start adding the power mods: headers, intake, cam, etc. Then do suspension.

You will disappointed if you stay n/a and smog legal. I would find a smog hook up and get a 23x/23x size cam with some afr heads and a ported fast 92 combo. After that i would get a clutch and a dyno tune. Then i would save for a new rear end. Oh and you can't forget the bolt ons

Really, listen to all these Cali guys...
The biggest thing for you to do is decide whether you are really gonna stay smog legal, cause the set-ups will be entirely different depending on that..

For smog legal, I know you don't want boost but get a nice aftermarket exhaust and an ATI procharger kit and enjoy 500-550rwhp all day long. With heads and cam the heads aren't the problem, it's the cam and will limit your gains for it to be smog legal. Go FI and don't look back! Buy the kit and start saving for the drivetrain.

If I had to do over again, my first mod would be a 9", then work my way up. Sucks *** knowing that I am one launch or even one shift away from maybe smoking the rear end, especially when you start making serious power.
