Default frost plug/crankshaft rear plug....HELP!!!!

we're working on a '02 SS, and upon removing the pilot bearing....the crankshaft oil plug, or frost plug, whatever it is called, came out. we dont know anything about it, and we need to know what its purpose is, and if we can just install the old one, or if we need a new one.... and if we need any kind of sealant or anything for it when it goes back in.

The GM part # for that plug is 24502262 How did you remove the pilot bearing? Im going to go out on a limb and say you did the hydrolic push out method . Well you can reuse the plug by putting a little JB weld on the outer ring of the plug and using a socket to press back inn. However I would not. the plug cost 3 bucks. I have a extra one for free , but im inn greenville sc. I say call SDPC and order it.

Last min at advance auto dumdumdum, .88 plug .. and actually I would rather not say how the piolet bearing came out .. but it was not the hydrolic push method .. closer to the hammer method =|

if the old one is not bent up, then you can just reuse it. otherwise get a new one, or you may get an oil leak
