Default Wiseco K394A3 2 or 4 locks per piston?

Well I am going to assemble my engine and have read you need 2 locks per side of piston, I only received 16 total and bought my pistons new from wiseco, should I buy 16 more? By the way they're spirolocks and part number is K394A3, thanks

Most Wiseco pistons only take one Wiseco lock per side.

most small block chevys only take one spiral lock per side. they are usually two spirals in one. little more difficult to get in. pocket screw driver works well.

I've installed and taken the spirolocks off a couple of times, is there any problems in using these spirolocks? Should I buy new ones? I've read they're not reusable but I really dont know if they get screwed up when installing and removing

You should not re-use spirolocks once they have been installed, although I have done it once or twice!

I guess I'll buy new ones, a friend of mine told me he got a pin out this way and had to tear down the engine to put new spirolocks, thanks 427

The part number is cs-24. They're double wound spiralox...twice as thick as singles and less troubleprone.

You may have talked to a cycle guy who didn't know the Wiseco small blocks use double wound singles versus the big blocks which use singlewound doubles. The cs24's are what come in those pistons and the dimensions are .075 wide with a 1.010 o.d. If you don't have that dimension on the old ones, it means it was assembled with someone elses locks. -Brian Nutter---Wiseco.
