Re: rod bolts on a 99?
I spun my engine to 6600 quite a bit with OEM rod bolts. But they are the weak point (IMO) of the bottom end. I've seen a few engines come apart at 6600 rpm shift points so I'm not saying it can't happen...
Now I have ARP Pro2000 rod bolts in my engine and spin up to 7200

stock pistons, rods and crank. Motor has never been to a machine shop. Only upgraded rodbolts and piston rings (I just broke the glaze by hand). Running Clevite-77 Rod bearings and Federal Mogul main bearings.

Fireball is an old pro, I would listen to him.
IMHO- I would not feel comfortable spinning the engine ruteinly above the stock rev-limit with the stock rod bolts.
