Texas Speed Cam & Patriot Heads Results! ! ! !
We finally finished up the heads & cam swap!
The car is a 98 car with the following mods:
LS6 intake
TSP Lid
Mac Headers
Borla
Yank 3200
3.73s
AMS Tuning
Stock MAF
SLP Camshaft
in: .559" 267º 214º
ex: .566" 275º 222º
The car made 328rwhp with the slp camshaft when the car arrived, I wish we could have results from a stock cam, but this is better than nothing!
We added:
TSP Tuning
232/228 Camshaft
Patriot Stage 2's UnCut
No additional timing or anything like that was given to the car, we just helped the idle & fixed the air fuels
The car gained nearly 55rwhp over its SLP camshaft.
Not to bad in my opinion, all he needs now is a pulley, and a cutout & he'll be close to 400rwhp. Sorry guys I didnt have time to get locked #'s, but hopefully we'll get to do a m6 car pretty soon

Also look at how the MAC headers really choked down at 6000rpm! A 232/228 camshaft should peak around 6500 or so! The car has great potential to throw down when he gets Hooker long tubes, or maybe the new Pacesetters!

Before I installed the cam I have now mine made 28.8 hp more locked verses unlocked. That would put you at 408.8 with a manual transmission. Not bad at all!
by KGSloan I'll take a set to if you are passing them out. I would see 10's with that heads/cam set up.

Damn Larry
My vig 3200 was only a 12 hp difference locked compared to unlocked and JFM only saw 9-10 hp difference with his 4200 Yank. Thats alot of loss. What converter do you run?

I hate to say this but I am not at all impressed with that dyno graph, I wouldnt blame the macs, I have seen plenty of gtp stg2 cars pull some great numbers with the macs, that texas speed cam looks like a great cam, texas speed has done a great job with there custom engines and inovative cams, I just think they should try them with gtp's to see the full potential of there great products

Re: Texas Speed Cam & Patriot Heads Results! ! ! !
ne14a6t9: Thanks for the kind words on the engines and camshafts! I've installed customer supplied GTP heads with our cams in the past, before we had our dyno installed and they did well by the SOTP meter.
I agree its not no dyno-queen graph, but its realistic for an A4 converter car. A 55rwhp gain over the SLP cam isn't bad at all, look at what it had before. Trevor's SS with more mods (FLP's, pulley, ported TB) and MTI S2 heads does ~385rwhp unlocked, but it also has the capability to run low 11's at the good Texas tracks.
BTW I predicted 380rwhp before starting the car.

ne14a6t9,
I think I would take that bet, I personally don't think another stage 2 head would make more power than the Patriot heads. We've installed ALOT of different companies stage 2 heads & I would put these heads up against any of them!
Remember guys these heads we're also not decked at all, with decking & valve reliefs there's definately more power in it!

do you mean those heads are equal to any other heads regardless of price? or do you mean in that price range?
just curious because those are big claims to make. i'm sure there are sponsors making way more power than that in a4's.
but competition is good for all of us! good job.
