which cam is best
I have a 98 m6 I want to get a cam that is going to give me a little more. I was wandering which would be best. I will be keeping my stock heads or getting some 243 cast maybe. here is the profile of the cam I was thinking about. Cam specs are 204/211 525/525 @.050 any input would be apprecaited.

GM HotCam 219/228 .525/.525 112 for instance. Great cam for the guy who just wants a little extra power, but nothing absurd.

I do want a pretty noticable difference. I can stand a little lope also just nothing very radical. I also don't want to have to spin the motor too high either. Does the GM HotCam 219/228 .525/.525 112 fit...or the thunder racing 224? Which is better?

Another thing to keep in consideration is that bigger cams require more mods and tuning.
Some people dont want to have to buy long tube headers and new intake and a new clutch and then a new rear -end and have to drop 300-500 on tuning.
I haven see one post in this thread that looked at the big picture, except for maybe the previous post.
I offer a beginner cam package for people who want a little more but not the hassles and cost of a bigger cam. If anything I would look at the Edelbrock beginnner package
No tune required. It's perfect for someone not wanting to break the bank just to pick up a few more ponies. Dont fall into the the typical thing on here .. some people think the size of their cam and how much compression they run is a bragging right.. LMAO!
I sell cams from 207 duration to 256. It's all about the combination and application.

You said you wanted to maybe get stock 243 heads. Excellent idea IMO. I think that a TR224 coupled with the 243 heads would be an excellent combo. Through a M6 I'd say that it's going to make around 400 rwhp. I'm not too knowledgeable on porting/milling heads, but I do know that you should be able to mill the heads a little with a smaller cam like that as well. A combo like this with a good tune should drive like stock, or very close, and make plenty of usable power.

Yea...see if i am going to go thru the trouble to install a cam i don't want to install a childs play cam. I hear alot of people tend to spin rod bearings after they get their cams installed. Is the major cause of this the fact that the rpm band is push up so high?

i didnt go anything crazy, and couldnt be happier. I got a 226/230 .609/.588 custom grind camshaft from Patrick G and its simply awesome. Stock driveability, and power comes in at the same time, it not abit sooner then stock and pulls hard all the way to redline (which I have set at 6700, but you could easily keep it to 6500 or so and still make great power). The 243 castings are also a great plan!

I'd go with a ported oil pump to lower the chances of spinning a bearing some people say upgrade rod bolts as well if you plan on spinning very high, but with a tr224 I wouldn't worry too much about a spun bearing

The search button is your friend. Adding a cam is not without risk.

just my 2 cents, the 2002 ls6 cam was a little too small. 550 lift, 218 /204 dur. idles great as low as 600 rpm, peak horse at 5700 rpm on dyno, yes it will keep revving above that. biggest dissappointment was the dyno numbers. i dont rev above 6k. you will need ls6 springs or better (insurance). if i change cams, my next choice will be the 224 /565 lift, 115 lsa. (i'm on the conservative side)
