Default im clueless about this breather in my engine bay. can someone chime in

what is this breather apparatus to the right of my intake lid? i was pulled over today, and the cop told me it was illegal. I wrote a thread explaining what happened.

Its supposed to be connected to the side of the lid where it would be pulling filtered air. Much like it is pulling filtered air now lol.

Yeah, this cop is a moron. It's supposed to suck in air!!!!!

And you're an idiot for not knowing that!! What did you think it was, a nitrous filter??? You can hear it sucking air in when you first start the car.
