Default Patriot stage 3's & MS3

As it says i have Patriot stg. 3 LS6's and the MS3 cam and i was wondering if anyone else is running this combo? I need to know what size pushrods to use, running the LS7 lifters and stock rockers. Just asking if anyone knows before i have to go buy the length checker?!!!

Do yourself a favor and check the length/preload to be 100% sure

you could try a stock length p/r, with the lifter all the way down, and tighten the rocker bolt till all play is gone, and if it takes no more that 1 1/2 to 2 turns to tighten, its within limits i believe-might give you a ballpark idea anyway

Yea thats a good way of checking, the only thing thats holding me back from buying the checker ( i know its only $20) is that im only gonna use it once, which i could sell it on here then!!

It should be 7.400 I believe. I think $20 for the checker is worth the peace of mind just knowing that you have the right parts.

Patriot LS6 Stage 3's wont work on an ls1 engine. They are too big. I would call patriot performance before doing any kind of install.

They are LS6 casting heads which will fit the LS1, BUT the PTV clearance is way to close, i forgot to mention that the motor is out and apart i am doing a 383 stroker build with Mahle -6cc dished pistons. TSP said as long as you have the valve reliefs in the pistons that combo will work, but yes i should get another opinion from Patriot!!!

OK, the LS6 stage III cylinder head from patriot performance are for 4.00" bores. And if Im not mistaken, the 383 bore is a 3.905". So again, its not matching up. Again, talk to patriot performance and tell them about your 383 and the heads your about to put on before you bolt them on.

I'd do a search on Patriot heads before buying them personally. I was close to going with Patriot heads at one point, but you get what you pay for.

There's nothing wrong with Patriot heads.

You didn't do that much research then. You should have probably called Patriot directly to ask them about their heads. There was a thread in here a few days / a week ago about trying to use these heads on a 3.90x bore. They'll fit, but you'll be killing the flow numbers due to valve shrouding. You should have gone with their 2.055 and 1.57 valves. Those are much better aclimated towards the smaller bore of the LS1 block.

Here's that thread:

Although the pistons have valve reliefs, they may not be large enough for the 2.08" valve. If you have any questions, please give us a call.

Man if the op was more savy he could of use that 4.00 stroke crank and drop it in a ls2 or lq9 and boom 402 with the correct rods and pistons of course.
