Default Stage 2 Heads Flow numbers inside.

I had a set of CXI stage 1 LS1 heads on our old 382 LS1 stroker. I had these heads reworked by Extreem Machine in League City TX. The stage 1's were with stock valves. The stage 2's have 2.02 1.57. Here are the results.

Intake @ 28 inches

Valve Lift .200 .300 .400 .450 .500 .550 .600

CXI stg 1 147 215 267 284 279 279 280

Xtrem stg 2 150 220 269 287 295 298 301

Exhaust @ 28 inches

Valve Lift .200 .300 .400 .450 .500 .550 .600

CXI stg 1 92 126 154 164 172 178 181

Xtrem stg 2 109 156 189 199 206 216 221

So the heads really picked quite a bit and a whole lot on the exhaust side. I will be matching these heads to a MTI X1 cam and a 382 Stroker bottom end.

Questions or comments?

Do these heads match up well with the X1 cam?

Are these numbers on par with other stage 2 heads?

Are these good numbers?

Damn, no wonder CXI cars were turds around here

Numbers look good now, but why such a small cam (X1) for a 382ci? I'd go with an R1 (232/237)

Mike -

I really can't answer your question, but what is this motor going in? Impala or Vette? Something else?

I would definitely go with more cam. That x-1 is way to small for those cubes. I would also go with a reverse split (unless you are gonna spray it). You're flowing over 200 cfm at .500".

What's the CR gonna be?

I would go around 236/244 on 112LSA on the cam size for that motor.

Cheers,

DAILY DRIVER! Thats why i went with the X1 cam. Jayson said he could get it to purr in my M6 Vette. The car should be finished by fri.

Tony i know why CXI cars suck! Cheap *** ****'s. Mikey who did my heads said he hasent seen a set of LS1 heads this screwed up before. He said the the exhaust ports were reallt mmessed up like someone took a dremel and just went to town. I picked up close to 50 cfm's at various lifts on the exhaust.

Im hopeing for at least 440 RWHP. I still have the stock throttle body, stock Pulley and stock rockers. Are these mods worth that much or should i save my $$$ here?

I would look at large single pattern at least.

232/232 on 113LSA would idle better than the X1 and make more power in your combo

What do you think a good shift point would be? RPM wise?

I would think a 6400 pill in the shiftlight would be more than fine. rev limit at around 6800rpm.

Mike...honestly you could go w/the R1 in the 382 and have her idle like stock damn near. you REALLY need to hear my stock cubed X1 cammed motor....If I had any type of real exhaust on there you'd think I'd have some 221/221 cam...

And if you don't make 440 then somethings wrong cause I'm not far off from that on my stock cubed motor w/the X1

I agree but i cannot have any drivability problems period. Im still worried that the X1 cam is to big.

I always under cam my cars.

Heck i have a 409 LT4 with a HOT CAM!

I had a 232/232 in the all-bore that I spanked you with when we met. It was pretty drivable, idled about like a 224/224 size cam in 346ci. The X1 should be very drivable in that 382ci, probably sneeeeky

The fact that they were acually ported coming from CXI is pretty amazing. That guy Phil is a thief.

Sneeky is good but with no traction through the first 3 gears it wont really matter!

Mike TexaSS about to learn how to drive all over again.

This ones not gonna be like the impy. In the impy all you have to to is floor it the weight does the rest. Now the 3100 lb vette is going to be a whole new ballgame!
