98 ss + full bolt ons and cam= 12.50 et's @ 111mph HELP!!!
A freind of mine has a 98 SS that is a full bolt on car.... well minus a pulley and a 12 bolt(6 speed car) with a Futral Motorsports Cam (I beleive its a 226/226 or a 226/228). The car seems to hook fairly well but what I can't understand is he just took the stock intake and tb off and put on a ls6 intake and TR ported TB and the car SLOWED DOWN a .1 and 1 mph!!! The car has NOT been tuned yet but I would have thaught that the car should have picked up a .1 and a mph not lost!
What gives here guys??????

Tuning will probably make a huge differance on that car. What was the 60'? It seems like the driver is the biggest mod for us M6 guys...myself included.

Get it tuned,I bet it is lean.
The LS6 intake leaned my 99 SS out so bad it pinged at WOT.I used a MAF translator to fatten it up and it was fine.
I was running a ported MAF and TB with the stock LS1 intake and it never pinged and ATap was good.I installed the LS6 and it leaned out abd via ATap and you could hear it ping.

What kind of tires is he running? What's his 60'? If he's on street tires, then honestly, it's 'anything goes', and that's probably about right. I'd bet his 60' is in the 2.1-2.2 range, and that's where all his ET loss is.
Slap some ET Drags on there, get the 60's down to the 1.5x-1.6x range, and he'll find his 11.x time. But oh yeah, watch out for breaking drivetrain parts.

what was his 60ft?? its loads of things that could explain that ET. He 60 could be in the 2.0 range or he may be a crappy driver. Its tons of cam only M6's out there running 12.3-7's just cause they cant hook, weather sucks, or they just cant drive

Also remember tuning will allow you to edit your peak RPM's. The stock rev limiter won't allow you to experience everything that cam has to offer. Cam's car are shifting slightly higher than the stock limiter so that could also be a factor. TUNING IS NEEDED!! My cam car should be done by this weekend and the first thing I am getting is LS1edit

Well the car seems to be hooking good, I would say a 1.8 or so on nitto's.... no 60's at the track we were at and its the only track that hooks anywhere around here! I can vouch that he is probably the BEST SHIFTER(I emphasize that b/c thats the only thing he can do when driving) I have seen and there isn't going to be much improvement.(he better watch out b/c I'm catching him shifting his own car that I only get to drive every 6 months or so). The car is being shifted @ 6500 rpm and the rev limiter is maxed out with a 6600 from a hypertech.
The car does need tuning b/c we switched from a SLP MAF and a stock one and it dropped like .1 or so. He leaves off for work this week(supposedly) and should be gone about a month or more, and he wants to have the car tuned when he gets back in.
I got to thinking about it today and told him to order some TR6's also.

so the track ya'll ran at doesnt give 60ft? Maybe im misreading LMAO...
might just be the weather or a slight tuning issue.. but again its more than a few cam M6's running mid 12's

Man don't hate on the track! LOL Really its an indivdual who built the track and of coarse he is loaded but for the 60', 300', 1/8, and the 1000' lights its gunna cost him $40K and the track hasn't been open long. Its actually still under construction but its comming along pretty quickly.
