Searching for the right intake
I purchased a 436 LSX short block from Kim Barr Racing in Dallas, the build is as follows:
LSX standard deck block
Callies Manum crank 4.0
Callies Magnum h beam rods
Diamond pistons 4.185 bore
Billet main caps, studded
Just to get it running we put in a cam from my old 6 liter build
Geoff Skinner EPS cam 230/242 .600/.605 lift on a 113 ls
Stock milled .030 5364 heads, compression is 11.40 with .051 mls gaskets
Stock LS3 intake and injectors.
On the the dyno it made 461rwwhp and 490rwtq thru a built 4L80E and Edge 9" 3800 torque converter. It ran out of steam at 5400 rpm's due to the tiny cam, really went down hill.
I am installing a new cam from Geoff Skinner @EPS 240/256 dur. .629/.604 lift on a 113 ls
I am pulling the heads and taking them to Chris Frank @ Frankestein cylinder heads for either a stage one or stage three job.
I am really not sure of what intake to run, I do not have tons of hood clearance so that could be problematic. What intake would you recommend? I do not think a fabricated/tall intake would fit and I do not want to butcher the hood on my 240Z, would a Fast intake be the ticket, I worry about the plastic intakes seeing as a simple nitrous backfire could set me back a lot of money...running a Nitrous Outlet wet system 150 shot on her too.
What are your thoughts on an intake for her pro's and con's?
Thanks,
Mike

Intake
Hopefully FAST replacement runners, Mid Length & Short Race
Runners are available soon (2-3 Months) then easy retrofit if
You have existing FAST 102. I am waiting on these myself!

Question is does the Fast 92 or 102 really work any better than the stock stuff. 1000 to 1500 bucks is a lot to spend for little or no gains. I probably have 4-5" clearance between the stock LS3 intake and the hood.

If Chris is going to be doing your heads, he can give you some advice on which way to go for your particular set-up. He just finished up a set of heads and FAST for me. The porting on the intake looks great. Some of the cast metal options may fit with the right elbow if you have 4-5" on top of the stock intake. There are some nice sheet metal options out there that will fit, but they are $$$$. Marcella does very nice work from what I have seen. Saw one at Frankenstein and it was beautiful.
Best of luck with the build.
