dod cover with non dod gasket?

dod cover with non dod gasket? Finishing up my turbo motor. It's a gen Vl aluminum 5.3l. Been searching about this and am more confused then when I started. I want to use the dod cover cause that's what I have. I removed all the sinlnoids and welded up the holes. Tapped the towers for 1/8 npt. And the passage for the oil feed to the dod. Can I use a non dod gasket with a dod cover. I noticed that the dod cover as bosses around the outside. I think it's to prevent overtorquing the plastic dod gasket. Can get the non dod gasket today. The dod gasket will have to be shipped.
