benifit of 6.2 over 6.0 both 06-08 engines
I'm buying an engine to swap into a coupe mustang I can get either a 06-07 6.0 out of a truck or a 6.2 out of an escalade. I know the 6.2 is an aluminum block but do both have same heads and intake or no? The price difference between the 2 is like $2100 the 6.2 being more. The weight difference in the block doesn't matter to me. What heds come on a 2006 or 2007 6.0 out of a truck?

On the 6.0 it depends which one, there is lq4(325hp) and lq9(345hp) for the trucks. On the 6.2 there is a lil over 400hp. 6.2 has the "l92 heads" which are rectangular port heads that flow more than the 6.0 317 casting heads that are cathedral port. I believe the l92 is set up for vvt which may affect what you can use for pcm and tuning. What do you plan on doing with the motor, N/A, forced induction, nitrous? Were you looking to buy used or new? If your going for new id look at the lsx376 crate motor especially if your dropping it in a fox body and have to buy all the supporting parts anyways to run it. Or just look at the for sale section and get a good price on a used one. Good luck hope this helps.

just shows that the grass is always greener................
ls3 owners should not feel slighted in the least. the additional bore has a secondary effect in that it unshrouds the valves for better flow.
ls3 heads are cantankerous with respect to cam selection, but offer some of the same flow of the best from the cathedral world.
loved the ls3 that I dismantled an l76 with a ls2 bottom end and replaced it with an ls3 bottom end in a pontiac g8 with 4000 miles. anyone need a ls2 shortblock???? (acronyms, confused yet?)
oh, and i stroked the ls3................

People like to talk about about how great l92 and square port heads are. Yes they have great flow numbers, yes they make good power, but they are not just out shining cathedral port heads. There plenty of cars out there making great power and running awesome times with cathedral port heads.
