Default Forged Crank in 2009 LY6?

I've been looking in junkyards for an LY6, plenty of them out there.
About a month ago on Ebay some guy was selling an entire '09 pullout from a chevy van, LY6 plus the 4L80E and everything else.
Anyway in the ad this guy claimed that 09s had forged cranks.
Anybody know if that's true?
When I do a computer junkyard search the 2009 LY6s come up seperate from the O7s and 08s.
The 09s are only a few hundred more than the others and I'd like to get the best engine I can so a forged crank would be a plus.
Thanks for any input.

Not enough to need a forged crank but for a couple of hundred bucks I'll take forged over cast anyday.

Today on Ebay the same guy is running another ad with a 09 LY6 and 4L80, the complete change over for $3900 asking price. He again says 09 is the first year of the forged cranks.
Anyone know if the corvette and camaro 6.2s have forged cranks?

Negative, they never had a forged crank from the factory.

If this was the case there would be no need for an after market crank unless going with a stroker kit.. The stock crank is a good crank though and can handle quit a bit of abuse.. I also believe all the cranks from GM from the 5.3 to the LS3 with the exception of the LS7 are all the same cranks. Someone please correct me if I am wrong..

So does that mean that there are NO factory forged cranks, even in the truck engines?

They are almost all the same stroke (with the exception of the 4.8L) but there are still quite a few different crank part numbers out there. Some are drilled and therein lighter weight, some have different rear flange thickness, etc.

I called the Ebay guy today and he swears that the 09s have a forged crank.
I ask him if it had a wide forging line like a forged SBC has.
He said he sells LY6s all the time and the 09 cranks are dirrerent, the material used looks different he said.
I know that on SBC truck engines a forged crank was often used and even today the replacement SNC truck crate engines fron Chevy either have forged cranks of beefed up nodular iron cranks.
Maybe the 09 up truck cranks are the same way, ie better material.

I think the LS7 has the only forged crank from the factory. The cast cranks are from the same casting and only have minor differences.

Thanks everyone for the info.
I really like that Valliant, don't see them very often these days.
There used to be a Valiant in socal that was called Prince Valiant that often ran at OCIR.

I heard from a different source who does lots of swaps and wrote a sawp book, that the 09 LY6 has the forged crank as well. I didn't really believe it but this is the second place I've heard it. He referenced a manual. Maybe I should PM him and find out which manual. I am especially interested since this is what's in my car.

The guy on Ebay told me that he wrote a swap book!
Maybe it's the same guy.

Again it just seems like he's trying to get a little extra $$$$ from someone by bullshitting them about the crank. The sad part is some poor fool will buy it and really believe they have a forged crank in the car..

Yes, this is the same guy who wrote a swap book. He also helped design the retro lsx oil pan that is now the holley pan. He told me about this forged crank well before this motor was for sale on ebay because I was talking to him about my 09 LY6. I do not beleive that he is lying, but that he truly believes this. I hope he can show us his source of info.

Yeah dude, he is going to have to backup his claim with some proof.

I don't see GM forging a crank for this simple motor. There is no need to forge a crank for a truck when the stock cranks that are not forged are doing just fine in trucks and there are guys using stock cranks to 1000 rwhp and they are not forged.
