Sleeved Blocks
I've read alot of magazines Camaro Performers,GM High Tech Performance,Car Craft,Popular Hot Rodding & Hot Rod are among my favourites.
The article in Camaro Performers is about Darton Sleeves and the article in GM High Tech Performance about ERL(also an advertiser here) as well as the Website for QMP(which uses Darton Sleeves) about building big cubes in LS small blocks.
Anyone out there running a 436(4.165 bore w 4 inch stroke) or 468(4.185 bore w 4.25 stroke) or similiar cid LS3?

My last motor was a erl ls2 block 454. It was 4.185 bore 4.125 stroke. It was a superdeck block. The only regret I had was not going 4.2 bore 468. I dont think i would go 4.25 stroke and have a unsqaure motor.
Im running a drysleeve erl in my new car. Its 4.125 bore 4.0 stroke. The 454 made a ton more power but it was a different build. The 427 is a 11.1 com, cam specs are 240/251 .630/.623 on a112, stock ls3 heads, and a fast 102. It made 530 whp when built. The 454 is a 12.2 comp on e85, cam specs are 247/263 .670/.670 on 113+3, prc 285cc heads, and a fast 102. The 454 pulls so much harder. I know its like comparing apples and oranges with these motors. Hope this helped.

I am also running an ERL 430 CI LS7 motor (4.130 x 4.0). Cam specs on mine are a little more mild at .630/.640 226/242@.050 on a 115 LSA, and ported Dr. J's Performance LS7 castings. CR is 11.2. ERL was very good to work with. I worked with Shane. ERL did not recommend any larger than a 4.0" stroke if you really plan to drive the car on the street, and put miles on it due to the potential oil consumption issues with the piston rock caused by a larger stroke. I followed their recommendation even though I wanted a 4.125 stroke.

West Coast Cylinder Heads LS7 265cc LSW All Pro Heads/No cam or FAST Intake as of yet until the heads arrive.Just waiting for the motor from ERL Performance. Check this youtube video of a ERL Performance Dry Sleeve motor.
I have contacted this 2 guys about ERL Performance and they sent me video of their ride. The G8 is a LS3 434ci Dry Sleeve motor and the Camaro is a LS3 427 Dry Sleeve motor. Enjoy

My LS2 block 427 has Darton sleeves done my Shawn Miller. 4.125 bore with a 4 inch crank. The Darton sleeves are a hell of a lot harder and stronger than the stock liners when matched with the correct pistons and rings, it should last a long time assuming it's put together right. I could have gone bigger but the 427 is just so iconic in the vette.

Forced Induction on that Gen 5 Camaro looks interesting but N2O injection sounds better to me.

Erik at HKE builds a 468 with sleeved blocks 4.185 x 4.25 and will still take a 200 shot. Once you go over 4.185 bore keeping head gaskets on it will be the problem. As you lose all the clamping area.

LS is not the only one that has grown. The original Mark II BBC was 427 cubes. You can now get a low deck version up to 588 cubes. Original SBC was 265 and you can get a crate 454 now. Where there is a will and a large checkbook anything appears possible.

I was just posting in the enternal section about freshing up my 402 but it look like going 427 is becoming more of an option! Resleeve the ls2 an buy pistons an use my crank and rods! You guys have me thinking. HOW MANY MILES YOU GUYS PUT ON YOUR 427s????

That's exactly what I was going to do. My 403 was a bit of an R&D dyno mule with about 20k street miles on top of that. Leakdown on a few cylinders was 25%. The only real difference in price was the having the liners done with was about 1800. You'll probably need pistons and rings anyways to freshen the 402.

It worked fine for me. I sold it to a buddy and he has had no problems with it. I sold it to buy a 06 z06 and hated it. So I sold it and bought a 10 camaro with a resleeved 427. Im thinking of changing pistons and going to 13.5 comp. Its making 530whp now on stock ls3s. Im shooting for high 500s. Im either going to go with mast ls3 or ls7 heads or prc ls7 heads again. Ive been trying to get ahold of eric before I make my decicion. I was going to order prc ls7s the other day but couldnt get tsp to make me a deal.
