Default Found this in the oil pan. I NEED HELP!

My ls3 lost oil pressure so i deceided to drain the oil and found this piece attached to the drain plug. Can someone please tell me what it is? Thank you so much.

I'm pretty sure thats a piece of the timing chain dampener.

Yup that would be my guess too! **** them damn tensioners! How's the motor? Any damage? I hope you caught it in time!

I dont know for sure about the motor. I am going to pull it this week. I know for sure the cam is junk. Thanks guys.

Are you guys sure about it being part of the dampener? Only reason I ask is when I took off the timing cover there wasn't a timing chain dampener even on. No bolts, not anything. It seems to me the engine builder might have forgot a major component.

Yea when I pulled the cover and seen that, I was ready to take out some frustration with a sledgehammer. As I am sure most people would also be pissed off if this happened to them.
