Default Preparing parts for engine build. Advice needed.

Hey guys,

My question is for the engine builders out there, as this is my first time inside a pushrod V8.

Im preparing to install a cam, springs, pushrods and yella terra roller rockers in my engine, and i was wondering how i should prep the parts for installation. Other than cleaning them really well, do i soak any of them in engine oil prior to installation? Should i just wipe over the rockers with carby cleaner then immerse them in oil and then apply oil liberally to the other parts?

Also, i carefully scraped some carbon build up off the top of my pistons, and while i was very careful not to get any in the bores, a few specs did drop in there. I vacuumed it out with a rubber connection, but i was wondering if its ok to use compressed air to get any crap out of the bores? I didnt want to force the debris into the rings with the air?

The car is a 2009 VE Commodore L98 engine with 40000kms on it if it matters.

Thanks for any advice,

Shaun.
