Default L92 Intake Manifold Gasket Problems

I have a truck intake manifold off a 2008 LS truck motor which I believe is an L92 engine. It is like new and I purchased new Felpro gaskets and tried to install the intake on my L33 5.3L engine. The heads were only milled .003" to clean them up, block deck height is stock.

The intake with the new gaskets will not sit flat on the heads. One side or the other will sit flat but the opposite side will not. It appears there is a locating recess between the two center cylinders and the gasket has a matching boss that fits into the recess. Using the old one piece green intake gasket, the intake fits fine. When I install the new orange Felpro gaskets, they will not fit into the recess and let the manifold sit flat.

The new Felpro Gasket part number is: MS 96587

Anybody seen anything like this before? Should I just file down the bosses on the gaskets and install as usual?

Thanks,

Use the GM one piece gaskets and it will work. We have a set in stock at the moment. Just give us a call and we would be happy to help.

You can't use a L92 intake on a L33 engine. L92 has square ports and the L33 has cathedral ports...

Good catch! I didn't even see that he was trying to put it on a 5.3.
