Default LS7 street motor in the 500rwhp club

Had my 427 dyno tuned this past week by Nick Williams in Mooresville, NC. I want to say thanks to Nick and his crew for a job well done!

On the fifth pull it made 508rwhp and 462 ft lbs of torque. It has a ton of power under the curve. Based on 20% driveline loss or theoretical 1.49 hp per cu/in the motor made 635 hp at the crank. I left some hp on the table with the stock LS7 intake and the motor had very little breakin. Also, I think the plugs heat range was a little too hot.

All and all I'm pleased with drivability and it's a blast to drive. It can light the tires up at anything under 60 mph!

Nick is good people! I took my car there a couple months ago with the 416 in it. We had problems with the motor and I had to take it out. I will be going back as soon as I get back up and running.

It is a pretty good drive for me, but worth it.

Is that a stick or automatic?

A stick will not lose that much and an automatic will probably lose more to the wheels unless you have a purpose built trans. the factory autos are more like 28%-34%

Did you not watch the video? It is an automatic, and these drivetrain loss percentages are complete BS. It doesn't work that way...if you want to estimate crank HP, put it on an engine dyno.

So is this built with a ls7 block or with a resleaved ls1 block? Those are great numbers through an auto.

they are not complete BS. They are an estimate.

if you want EXACT crank hp, put it on an engine dyno.

Default LS7 Intake

James,

As soon as it warms up a bit, I'm going to do my intake. I'll bring it and the LS2 intake down for you to check out.

Maybe we can both pick up a few free horses.
