Need a good Connecting rod recomendation?
Been looking at rods, but mostly stuff like the Lunati pro billet, oliver, carrillo, etc. What's a good rod for an LSX 427 turbo build good for 1200 whp? Will the callies and eagle's hold up, or stick with the higher end rods?

We always like to use, or recommend LUNATI products. They have been around quite some time, and offer a wide array of products for all budgets! +1 on the pro billet rods if you have the $$ and you'll never have to replace them! (if you have the money to even consider a 427 turbo build, you have the funds for the billet rods IMO)

yeah, i have no problem picking up the better rods, I have heard good things about the the Lunati, carillo and oliver. I aslo hear good things about the compstars, but no one but Lunati shows any HP ratings on their rods it seems. I'm leaning towards the Lunati Pro billets right now, I run the Pro Mods in my 347 and pretty happy with them. Now that I think I have the rods chosen, I can get my custom Ross 12* pistons made up for the All pro's.
Thanks guys!

You might also check into upgrading the rod bolts to the ARP Custom Age 625+ rod bolts. They were tested @ extreme duty and lasted almost 3 million cycle's. Which is way better than the ARP 2000 bolts (or other brands equivalent) that come with many of you rod choices and they have a much higher clamping load pressure (260,000 psi vs. 220,000 psi).

Depending on your budget
Compstar rods, for the price they setup better then any other LS1 rod
In our shop car motor we used Oliver rods, 1200+rwhp and 1,000 miles on drag week, then drove it home.

You won't have any problems with any of those rods if things are right and you will have problems with all of them if things aren't done right. Probably junked 10 sets of ruined lunati pro billets but it wasn't the rods fault although they do bend easier than the cheaper h-beams on some of the silly NOS engines for some reason.

Thanks for all the input guys. The olivers are sounding good right now, so are the Compstar rods. Is anyone using the Compstars in some higher HP cars? Looks like the Eagle rods are also holding up pretty well. I have the budget for what ever rods, but if I can use Compstar or Eagle with some confidence, I would..

Eagle rates their H-beam rods with the L-19 rod bolt upgrade to handle 1400 HP, I hope that helps give some insite for your situation. If you decide to go with the economy type rods I would choose the Compstar's over the Eagle's. I would upgrade the rod bolts with no less than the ARP L-19's for your boosted application.
