LSX and What to do?
So I recently purchased a 1993 Chevrolet Camaro with a mean LT1. Unfortunatelly the engine was recently deemed unsalvageable and unworthy by every mechanic in town. After losing respect for the previous owner, I started looking at the positive side of this new problem. I then decided I would look at buying an lsx bowtie block.
With this comes many questions and queries. I know a bit, but I also have alot of questions and would rather be prooved wrong than continue being niave.
So, the questions begin.
Boring an engine out has alot of positive ends to it, and the LSX can be bore out to 4.250".
What are the implications of boring an engine out?
Is there a happy medium or is bigger ALWAYS better?
What are the positive ends to it exactly?
With the engine bore out I would have to buy enlarged pistons.
What should I be looking for in pistons?
Next comes heads, springs, and rockers.
Will bore affect any of this?
What should I look for as far as the heads and such fitting? I read somewhere that the larger pistons in a bored out lsx could damage the heads if not calabrated correctly? Whats this about?
I will appreciate everything you can do to help me out. There will be many more questions and postings by me as I progress in building the block up.

But don't bore it to the max, leacve room for a rebuild in the future. If you're staying N/A do a 4.185 bore x 4.125 stroke = 454ci. You'll love it.

Also, use a good builder and you should have no problems with everything matching up.

Recommend going with around 4.155 - 4.185" bore.
Pistons and ring selection is best.
The largest bore head gasket cometic makes is 4.200 or .220? At that point alone gasket material between the bores is pretty thin.
