FWIW, I am doing the same thing. Since I blew up my LS1 engine last August, I have just recently purchased an LS2 402 stroker from TSP. To reduce the cost to get the car back on the road I am going to re-use the top end: PP LS6 ported heads, LS6 intake, and ported factory TB. I think that with the LS6 intake I might make 475 RWHp.
Later, I hope to upgrade the FAST 90 intake, 90mm TB, and MAF. And if I get really crazy go with L92 heads and L76 intake. With this combo, I hope to make 500 RWHp.

So yes, it can be done. Choose your engine builder VERY carefully.

With the right combination it is very easy to do. We consistantly build 540+rwhp 427cid motors that are using our LS6 ported heads. As mentioned above, a properly ported LS6 head will outperform many aftermarket castings.

Here's the explanation, FWIW.
