Default need advice on my rebuilt ls1

So I just rebuilt my ls1on my trans am.I haven't broken in my engin yet I barely even put 60 miles on it since I got it back..im supposed to go on a trip in a couple days tho and I gotta drive my car on the freeway for a couple hours but my friend just told me I cant drive it on the freeway till i hit 500miles and I can only drive it on the street,I wanted to know if this is true????

i haven't broken in an engine in years however the old school answer is drive around for short trips at different speeds to help set the rings then change oil at 500 miles. its possible todays rings seat / set without that , i would contact an engine builder or sponsor to verify or google correct way to break in new engine maybe. cheers!
