Default TR6 question??

i am going to get a dyno tune this friday for my cam. i will also be getting tuned for a 150hp wet shot. my tuner says that i dont need tr6 plugs. he said to run the stock ac delco plugs and that he would tune for the nitrous. i dont want to get there and find out i need colder plugs. what should i do?

Tell your tuner that he has no idea what the hell he is talking about.

TR6 plugs are a must on spray.

Someone on another forum said NGKs aren't good for nitrous because the ground electrode isn't as strong as stock Delcos... but I know a number of people doing great with them with no problems.

Alot of people don't know their *** from the hole in the ground...But they'll tell you anything you want to know on the internet.

I shot 200 at NGK V-powers in the black mustang in my avatar. 225 at TR6's in a stock LS1 a few years ago. Last year we had 3-400 going through a stock BBC with NGK V-powers as well. Never burned a plug(or even came close to) in any of the motors.

NGK's are excellent plugs for nitrous. The only issue(with carb'd cars mostly) is that they tend to foul out quicker than other plugs. But when you're drag racing and putting a decent shot through the motor, you should be changing plugs and oil OFTEN anyways.

How often should the plugs be change. I run TR6's with a 150 shot and I run the car about 2 times a month.

you have a very bad infamous tuner more like it.

If you're cammed with a 150 shot I'd put a #6 at LEAST in the car, I'd probably start with a #7.

Understand, every heat range you go down you lower the chamber temps about 100 degrees, that being said with stock pistons, I'd start on teh side of cautious rather then being on teh edge and melting something.

I'd put a set of #6's in there, make him tune it with those and the first time you hit it I'd put #7's in and see what they look like.

Any tuner that tells you stock platnium plugs are safe for a setup that should be making 500 if not more at the tires is an idiot.

the tuner is ed wright. he is very good and recomended by many people. i personally have seen him tune a car(HIGH compression 402ci with a maggie supercharger) that many tuners said they wouldnt even attempt to tuner and he made it run like a brand new car!

Ran TR6s in my old GT with spray for around 8 months. Pulled the plugs out right before I sold it and they looked pretty fresh. They should last a good bit.

I have no idea why he would say that but, i would deff run at least a tr6 around .035 not really any tuning that can lower cylinder temps like that unless he plans on running no timing and a lot of fuel.

on a side note the only problem ive had with my ngk's is running a shot and torco, they dont really seem to like each other

just put TR6's in there and have him tune it. if he says anything about it tell him you needed a colder plug b/c spray

I run TR7's @ .035" and runs fine all motor.. I drove over 100 miles on it this weekend and taking it to work today

I have seen ed wrights mail tunes work not so well. he may be good but anyone who has tuned ls1's know factory plugs are platnum and it is not to friendly with nitrous. you may "get a way with it" but a set of 6's are like $20 put the 6's in....

Why even bother asking us if you arent goiong to listen. Go ahead listen to your expert tuner and run a stock plug then. Dont complain when you melt a plug or ruin your engine when you simply could have replaced your spark plugs. TR6's run fine NA also so theres no reason not too.

If you search around here there are instances of guys running stock heat range plugs and ruining their engines on spray.
