Ok I wasnt planning on it but it looks like i might be selling a couple of my sleds(snowmobiles) tomorrow, and I want to buy a complete new rear end to handle my power plus any future upgrade! Im going with 4.10s/4.11s so thats not what I want to know. 9in? S60? How much $$$$???????

Not a fan of the 9"; the S60 is more efficient, stronger and sexier LOL
Then again, it' easy to find parts for a 9" and it's much lighter than an S60.

Yeah AChotrod relax there turbo

It's random you ask this question cause I was just read about this question on another forum. Most guys with the M6 were going with the 9in where the A4 guys went with the 12 bolt. Either way bro, you will be fine. If you have any plans for a future build then I say go 9

I just saw the s60 part so never mind my story

If you're not going to throw slicks on regularly, get the car running right first - it ain't gonna break spinning street tires. Shocking the drivetrain with sticky tires kills diffs.

Agreed! You might as well get the use out of that 10bolt imo.

This car will go to the track 20 times a year! It will always have DRs or slicks at the track. The car is getting the Heads and cam and all the suporrting mods installed next week. If possible I would like to get it all done b4 the tracks close at the end of november.

I like the 9", i wish i would have went with a 4.30 gear though, especially with a 26.4" tire, it'll hold alot of abuse with a mild set-up (bolt-ons), if you do get one, it'll run around 2300.00, then you'll need a new driveshaft & aftermarket TA like a BMR, i would run either a full spool or true trac.

I had (went back to stock) a Moser 9" with U.S. Gear 3.89's (best gear imo), detroit tru trac, 31 spline axles, strange case, ford racing pinion support and all timken bearings. I put the whole rear together for about $1900 with all new parts and had a local guy set up the center section, had absolutly no gear noise, it was great. The rear is now in my buddy's car and he loves it, the 3.89's put him at about 1850rpms at 70 and when he had his 12 bolt with 4.10's it was at about 2000. He put down about 370 at the wheels and it takes it all. Hope that helps a little.

S60

really though it fits better the your std. 9" and is more efficient while have larger parts which in turn is said to be stronger.

I will have you an installed price tomorrow.

edit : actually it will be later today

Strange has pushed us to not sell 12 bolts for cars that will see good track duty with hard launches.. S60 is their suggestion for anything that will see good drag strip duty.

10 bolt and DS can be sold now is perfect working order to help offset costs

my thoughts

Im not worried about the money of putting it in! The only thing good about the 10bolt is its weight and efficency(sp). Other than that its a tow from the track to my house wich is atleast 50miles. Not to mention the embaressment of breaking down and holding up the lanes.
I have the money now and might as well do it right the first time.!!

sorry to hijack but i got a quick question, so a couple guys said that the ten bolt will hold up with some good power on street tires. Its only gonna kill it with sticky tires grabbin at the track? im gonna be doin heads cam and all that soon and i dunno if a rear is in my plans right now and i wont be goin to the track just a fun daily driveable m6 car.
