Default Finally Got Some Dyno #s For the 408 & F1

I finally got the car on the rollers today. The new setup made 702hp & 633tq SAE. While it certainly isn't where I want to be, you gotta start somewhere. More than the 618 the old blower made, but well shy of my 800 hp goal.

As you can see on the dyno sheet, it's obviously got a problem around 5700 rpm. The boost leveled off there at 13-15 psi. Not sure if I have a leak somewhere or if the belt is slipping. But the A/F & fuel pressure is good, tho I might need a bigger meth jet.

The tires were spinning the whole time so I had to roll into the throttle so the tq #s are way below what I made before (761). Guess I need to replace the Eagles F1s with my 335 Hoosier DRs next time.

And this is a 1 BAR tune with a MAF, so there might be even more there.

Yeah, you're a good 100-150 Hp off for that boost level. I was making 740 on 13 psi and that was through and A4 using a D1SC. The vette I am probably getting soon makes 868 at 14 psi with an F1c.

Do you have a graph of the boost level as well? Did it flatline at higher rpm's?

You need a 3bar SD tune. Thats when you will hit your mark.

Mark, you should go ahead and ship your car to us to have Brent tune it, I'm sure he can do a lot more for the car in person than he can over the phone. lol Bob

We also dyno'ed my 408 yesterday with a TVS 1900 on top. As you can see we did quite a bit better so I am sure you will find more power. The TVS 1900 was not quite big enough for our setup but we were extremely happy with the torque curve. We could only get 5lbs of boost for most of the run with a late surge at 5700 rpms to 6.5lbs but still torque AVERAGED 653 ft/lbs though the run with a peak of 677. Here is the graph. Question? What cam, compression and how much boost are you running? Your motor should definitly make more power based upon my figures. Our peak hp was also higher at this low boost so may consider a new cam.

I am hoping with my new 408 to make at least 750 at the crank.

Making 750 at the crank should be no problem with 8lbs of boost. We made 727 hp with 5-6.5 lbs and we had the wrong MAF only 78mm which was an obstruction on our 90mm intake. What setup are you thinking about? Racing Engine Design in Colorado put together my 408, with ported Ls2 heads to fit the TVS 1900, forged 9.1 compression and 226/238, 601/601 114 LSA cam. With a little more tuning and a bigger MAF I think we will hit your goal with only 6.5lbs of boost. Is anyone besides Lingenfelter making a bigger MAF?

Did that with a little smaller blower, picked up 75 hp with a little tuning so don't get depressed. Nice numbers to start off with your goal is just around the corner for sure!

My setup is as follows:

408 - Callies Dragon Slayer crank & H-beam rods, Mahle coated pistons (-8cc?), Stage II 6L heads, EPP Stage II cam, Morell lifters, Comp Pro Mag rockers, ported Vic Jr, ported 78mm TB, EPP FMIC, 60lb Motrons, Nasty Stage III fuel system, Alky Ctrl Meth kit, SDCE tensioner (I forget the pulley sizes...7.75 & 4.1?...goal was ~20 psi), Kooks 1 7/8 LTs, Corsa Cat Back, 4L60E, Yank Pro Ext 3200, M9 w/True Trac, and I was running 315 Goodyear Eagles

Like I said, I was aiming for 800 rwhp, might have to settle for 750.

Mark, ditching the maf will pick up power and drivability at your level. You're close, just need to get that tune right.
