New and lloking for info for my lt1
Hi everyone, I just thought I would stop by and introduce my self....My name is steve and I'm currently stationed in warrensburg, Mo working on the B-2 bomber...Besides that crap I would love to gain some more knowledge pertaining to my LT1 engine. I would appreciate some opinions on what route to go with the car. I was thinking either a 383 stroker LT1 or a 396 stroker Lt1. I've heard good things and bad things about both. I would also like to have recommendations on a cam swap. This is what I have done so far....Lt4 hotcam, small in my opinion and not aggresive to me, BBK shorties, 85mm MAF, 58mm BBK TB, 32 lbs injectors, cold air with vortec elbow, shift kit, 3:73 gears and a tuning done by mad Z28. I want a more radical, aggressive sound to it and I want the biatch to come alive and make you wonder what it has, suggestions for the new guy would be great!!!!Thanks

Get a stall on that thing! Many will recommend getting your heads ported and a more aggressive cam. elliottsportworks.com and advancedinduction.com are both great places.
If you're wanting to stroke it, get a forged 383. I personally wouldn't go over that.. There are many many different options to go with once you get into that area! Good luck!
Oh and WELCOME! haha.

Lloyd Elliott works wonders for our LT1's. Does great head work and his custom cam shafts are nice as well. http://www.elliottsportworks.com/

Welcome to the site Steve, lots of good info and bad as well. The 1st steps i would take if I were you would be.
1. Get longtubes
2. Get a stock MAF back on there
3. Get a stall.
THEN, get a custom ground cam with appropriate springs and get the thing re-tuned. How many miles on the car steve?

Well we are straight to the point on this forum for sure! One question the caught my intrest is, going back to a stock MAF....Why would this be better??? I always liked the 306 comp cam for the LT1, well it least the sound, but I hear there alot better performance cams out there. What's the biggest cam I can go in this forged 383 stroker setup??? Emissions on the other hand, I don't have to obey the emissions thing considering I'm a resident of Illinois. No isnspections there. So go with Long tubes for sure! Oh to add, my heads are have already been ported and polished and had a 3 angle valve job done from a local machinist in Tucson, Az. I'm in it to get the best performance available for when the time comes this spring to rip the motor out. So Please all suggestions are great! Thanks steve

Also the car has 173K on the bottom end and about 600 miles on the top end. Mostly high way miles and I'm sure you've all heard this but the guy before me used to drive it to car shows all the time and that was back in 1999 when I bought the car I'll post pictures later after it gets out of the shop. Changed out the hood after the other one flew off about 80 mph

With an auto, I think thie biggest bang for the buck are gears, and a good hi stall converter. If your pockets still have some cash in them after that, go for a set of heads. You will hear Lloyd Elliot and Advanced Inductions a lot, and they are good products by all the testimonials, but I like the AFR eliminators. AFR's are designed from a clean sheet and are not bound to the constraints of stock castings. They feature many new advancements in the springs and valves.

1. long tubes, ory
2. stall, 3.73's
3. custom grind cam
4. s60 rear end
5. forged 383
6. 150 shot
That would be a rather quick car. Take it a step at a time, sounds like you're about ready for a bottom end with those miles.
