My 1999 Z28 hit the 100,000 mile mark today.....
Original motor and it has seen lots of nitrous use....Any bets on how much longer it'll hold up? I plan on spraying some more TNT 150 shots in the future.

I've got 110,000 on my original bottom end...although I've replaced every sensor you can think of, all the gaskets except the oilpan gasket, car has mti stage 2 heads and X1 cam and see's 75-100 shot of gas a bunch....I run 6qts of Royal purple 10-30 and mobil 1 oil filter...car doesn't use any oil, piston slap is almost non existent and it still makes over 420 on motor on the dyno....
I say these motors will hold up for a very long time if you're willing to not push it to it's very limits..like my shift points are set at a pretty low 6400/6500, I only spray when I have to to win the race...and I'm so **** about maintenance I think my wife is gonna divorce me..LOL-J/K..but I see no reason why I can't see 150K+ out of this motor.

I have 133k on mine right now, but she is getting a compression check as we speak to see how she is holding up.

Man when you put in the oil pump BUY A NEW ORING!!! Make sure you don't reuse the old one.
I know I'm going to get jumped..but i never even changed my oil-pump or timing chain...both stock.
I see 45-50psi of pressure at idle and upwards of 80psi when at wot..now if the car is REALLY HOT..like sitting in houston traffic for an hour or doing a lot of running around but not going fast...the pressure drops to about 40 at idle and 65ish @ wot...as soon as the air starts movin thru the radiator and cools off the motor and all the pressures come back up fairly quickly.
I can't say the stocker won't fail, but hell, why fix something when it ain't broken. I just keep my eyes on the 30gauges I have (Yes I'm a gauge freeek...I HAVE to know everything that's going on in my car so I have autometer Dual A/f's, fuel pressure, oil pressure, oil temp, tranny temp, coolant temp, n20 gauge, oh..and the rice Monster tach) but I say w/110,000 miles i can see trouble coming a mile away by keeping an eye on the gauges.

Guess what. Original timing chain and oil pump here as well. I changed the cam, springs, and pushrods at 85,000 miles. I left the orignal oil pump and chain in place. Why change something if it doesn't need to be changed. I've ran Mobil 1 10W-30 since the car came off the showroom floor, I've also sprayed it since 20,000 miles. I monitor the A/F and knock very closely. The car burns about 1 1/2 qt every 3000 miles.

One thing you definitely do not want to be doing is running your car hard right after you've been stuck in traffic for a long time, as that hotter and much thinner oil will not protect your bearings very well. An oil cooler would definitely help too, although I'm not sure how effective they are at keeping things cool if you're just idling in traffic though.
