Default New PB 1/4 mile All motor LT1

Well a little story first, we tow 90 miles, get to thew track. The wind is blowing so damn hard they tell us no 1/4 mile today only 1/8 mile...I was not happy. 35 mph headwind straight down the track.

NO track prep, it rained the last 2 days and cancelled there reg programs, temp is about 60 degrees when we get there. WIND IS HOWLING!

Off the trailer

60 foot 1.58
ET 7.07@97

Well I work my way to here:
60 foot 1.46 (BEST EVER)
et 6.93@ 97.6(BEST EVER)

Starts getting dark, wind is laying down a little. Still 15+ mph headwind. And they turn on the 1/4 mile clocks.

Best of the day
60 foot 1.46
1/8 6.93@97.6
1/4 10.95@122.7

All on pumpgas, through full exhaust(no cutout) on drag radials. JUST like I street drive it. 3700+lbs

WOOOHOOOOOO!!!!

I see a high 10.80 when I get a day with no headwind!!!!!!!!!

Damn, that's a STRONG LT1 all motor! Great job and glad they got those 1/4 times up. How does it drive on the street? What tires were you running?

Thanks! Came together with the help from ALOT of people. I achieved a lifelong dream yesterday. A pumpgas all motor streetcar. A REAL STREETCAR! That I built in my garage with help from buddies.

Doug Phillips and Howard Byrd, without these two buddies I would still be contemplating selling the car.

Ed Wright, super guy...a REAL car dude.
Bret Bauer, cam guru extroidinare.
Lloyd Elliot, the head porter.
David's Machine shop. local guy who is pretty sharp, does my machine work.

Drives AWESOME on the street, I take it to a 5 day cruise every year over in Miss. I put 465 miles on it in a 3.5 day period along the beach of Miss. All on pumpgas and in heavy trafic.

Tires were 325/50 drag radials.

Nice!! It's a great feeling when you pick up that timeslip and it has a 10.xx on there, isn't it?

Those 325 radials are some heavy *** tires. I bet going to a slick you would probably pick up a little more. I'm running 275 radials and they are heavy as hell to.

Congrats again.

Great day made out of a crappy day it sounds like...way to go Our last 2 track days were snowed out so....boohoo..haha I needed one last hit on these short tires!!!

What gear?
What heads were ported by LE?
rpm thru the traps?
Shiftpoint?

Hoosiers Drag Radials are a TON lighter and just as, if not more, effective.

Keep driving it like crazy...it seems the guys who stop driving them kind of lose the love for them. I drive mine more than I should...cold with the top down and heater blasting. Goodluck next time out!

What gear? 4.11
What heads were ported by LE? RHS 235
rpm thru the traps?6600
Shiftpoint?gets done about 6500

I think it can take a 4.56 gear.Maybe a 4.88

This is a real true streetcar, I drive it alot. And love it. My plan came together and it turned out exactly like I wanted.

All I did was loosen the converter like we talked about. Before it ran 11.02 in in neg 1350 DA and would only stall 1800 on the footbrake.

Now it will stall 3000/3100 on the footbrake. It ran the 10.95 in +100 feet DA.

The harder I stall it on the footbrake, the harder it leaves. Is this an indication of it needing more converter still?

There are wrinkle marks in the rear tire sidewalls, first time I have seen that with the MT dag radials.

Definately wants more stall if it's quicker with more footbrake rpm. The closer you can launch to peak torque, the quicker it'll go. Probably somewhere around 4500, but I'm sure you have dyno numbers to help out. It's begging for a 4R70W trans with a brake and 4500 stall...

Another way to look at it if the kit didn't sell yet.....I bet a 150 shot would flash your converter to around 4500...haha It would also wrinkle the wall a lot more.. 9's all day and you have the gear to get you thru the traps.

Who's cam? I found the specs but didn't see if it was a LE or a BB, comp, motion? Looking to have LE do my stuff this winter.

I dont think it will run the 1/4 on spray with the 4.11's, goes out now at 6600. I am gonna sell the kit. Trans aint gonna like it at all. I enjoy street cruising it and I want to enjoy it.

Cam is from Bret Bauer.

I ran 10.92 NA and 10.00 on a 150 shot with 4.10's, shifting at 7000/7100 on 28x10.5's so I think you could run spray but at the end of the day the spray number is something anyone can do.

I'd run it some more as is, maybe you can tune a 1.40-1.42 out of the chassis, maybe foot brake a little higher?

My old 4800 8" verter drove very nice, but the ATI 5500 TRT was very loose on the street.

THAT IS FAST!

I drive mine all over, its a streetcar. If my car was lighter It would realy fly. 3750 lbs tends to hamper you a little.

his car is full weight also with AC and all (even though it doesnt work, its in there). the only weight reduction is no spare or jack. with an exhaust its perfectly streetable. we drive it all the time. the car will go 10s with a diet alone. oh, that pass was made this past wed and the car is not 100%. still has a mail order tune there is a small hicup in the higher RPM. with a dyno tune, which i think would cure the hicup, and a diet, 10s for damn sure.
