I plan on getting a 160 degree t stat and a fan switch soon. I don't really have the money for headers right now but i want to do some mods in the mean time. I was thinking electric water pump or possibly some suspension work (SFCs or lower control arms). I only drive the car in the summer and i take it to the track a few times a year. Any thoughts?

$150 for the Gears, probably about $100 to install them, unless you know someone that does them.

Generally speaking gear are $200+ to have installed right.

Add in another $100 or so for the install kit for gears.

What gears do you have stock? If you have 2.73's then I'd say go for gears. If you have 3.23's then I'd spend the money elsewhere for now.

The parts will probably come to $250 or so, and it'll probably be $250 to $350 to get them installed correctly.

I'm a fan of electric waterpumps. Drag radials are also a very good investment.

$100 for someone to install them and make up a new install kit is a little on the low side. Every shop that I called in Oregon/Washington for quotes at the time of my swap was in the $375 range.

With the gears and labor you will most likely be in the 400 dollar range unless you do it yourself

yes..$150 is way low for an install unless a side job.

if you have a 3.23 as mentioned ..leave it.

I would suggest a stall converter and drag radials being your best bolt-on improvements at this time.

I would say by the time you invest $$$ into gears and install you could have bought a nice set of headers for the most part. I say save up for a bit longer for the headers. If you decide to go gears and you do have 2.73, hit me up cause I have some extra gears laying around that are in great shape and there yours for dirt cheap.

Yeah i do have the 2.73s. I plan on doing both gears and headers sometime, but i just want to do one mod for under $300. Its gonna be my christmas present from my parents :)

Must be people charge high in your area, around where I live I can think of 3 places that are about $100 for the Install. I forgot the Install Kit, so there is another $50.

I do pretty much all the work on my Car, but I have a good friend that will help out with the technical shit like that for no problem, and if he needs a favor, I help him out.

IDK..that is what I hear people I know that pay for it at them places. I do alot of my work, and if I need something that I cant do, I get ahold of my friend. He runs a Transmission Shop, so the Car has been in there a few times for work on a Lift, and that's where I plan to put it back together.

Nothing like a spot where it's free and no one will bother you, and you have alot of good Tools. :)

There is a set of Hooker long tubes in the for sale section for $150, many other good parts there also. Check the feedback also.

I did the suspension first on my car, as I feel there is plenty of power available from the stock motor. 95% of my parts are used parts from the classifieds on here and other camaro websites. Must read up on some feedback issues also tho'.

For the $300, I think, if you want headers, I'd grab the headers($150) and some lower control arm relocation brackets(new)$80.

blkZ28mara

You can just get the relocation brackets and use the old control arms? Or do you have to get new lower control arms?

Aftermarket lower control arms would be a much better part. However I was trying to stay under the $300 for ya. The stock ones could be used with the relo. brackets, they could also be boxed at home on the cheap and used just fine until aftermarket ones are buyable for ya.

Gears Installed are 500 plus parts and labor around here. I would grab SFCs and LCAs and PHB and If you can grab the relocation brackets too!

E-WP is a good mod, but takes also a good relayed warning kit to ensure reliability. Have you thought about some 1.6RR's? They are about $300 maybe a little under for some good Crane Golds. Suspension you can't really go wrong. I also agree with the DR's comment.

I would like to either get an EWP, or some suspension parts. Will the PHB have many benefits to a basically stock car?

if you really want the headers jus save for em, but if you wanna spend some money get the gears in the mean time and wait to have em installed....IMO id just save for the headers

I wouldn't spend the $$ on a PHB unless your planin on autoXing.

A Tubular PHB is a really good investment, stiffens up the Car alot.

If I could go back in time I would have just held off on gears, and gotten a 12 bolt or 9in the first time around. After putting a gear set with install, it adds up to an investment in something that is weak and will most likely be replaced later. Have I blown my gears, no. Have I launched on slicks, no. Have I launched the way I wanted to with no worries, no. (this was running 4:10 on m6, however, and autos seem more gentle on the 10 bolt.)

I say x 2 on saving for the headers. You will pat yourself on the back later. Every time I looked back at my header install I never regretted it.

Just save for the headers, they will be well worth it, for both sound and power. Also leave the 10 bolt alone $500 is a lot to spend on something that you could break easily

sub fram connectors. Hands down. After that the best 100 bucks you can spend would be a tune.

Is it worth the extra $100 or so to get the 3 point SFC's? Or do the regular ones do just fine

AChotrod

I had them b4 and went with 2 pt SFC this time, but if you r gonna use a Tunnel mount TA then Definitly get the 3 points!!!! and yes I think a PHB is important its one of the first mods I do!

the 3pt's are worth it. I am switching my tubular BMR's to Umi's 3pts this winter.
