I ran my car when it was bolton with the stock trans for many years and many hundreds of mid 12 second passes. It was still working great when I sold it when I did this build and it had over 100k miles on it as well

I had a 95 Silverado that i dropped in a 95 lt1 with a stock 4l60e and upgraded internal parts and full bolt ons. I had it dynoed at 385 to the wheel. I had the truck running strong with just a tune and never had a problem with the trans. i even had the stock torque converter, Oh, I also ran a seperate trans cooler with fan.

I made 340rwhp for quite a while, and ran quite a few mid-12 seconds passes on my stock 4L60e, with just the stock in-tank mounted tranny cooler. always had a very firm 1-2, and 2-3 shift too, never even changed the tranny fluid with 85k miles on it!
I pulled the tranny, and stuck it in a stock car with a new filter and fluid, and it's still running around 3 years later. only reason I pulled it was for the 6spd swap (which I wish I hadn't done at times!) cuz I didn't wanna pay $400+ for a torque converter...

I have seen them last in heads/cam/nitrous cars run anything from 11.2(4000lbs Impala) to 12.1 in a 4400lbs Impala and last other blow up with the wife going for groceries. There is no number to be put to it maintenence history on the now11+year old piece and luck have a lot more to do with it than power.

Mine has held to ~350rwhp and a bunch of 11 second passes with just a tranny cooler and shift kit...no signs of slipping or anything bad yet but I have the feeling it is on borrowed time.
I will be getting a built one as soon as funds allow. Here's another cheer for luck .

Well I seem to be among the minority here. Have a 97' Z28 and the trans only handled stock power. No passes at the track, burnouts, or anything. The 3-4 went out and had to have it rebuilt. Holding up fine now.

About 10 passes so far with 490rwhp on the bottle. Latest times in sig. Yank SS3600, shift kit and a B&M supercooler. It's on borrowed time, but after putting my turd in the high tens last time out, I have no complaints and it owes me nothing more.
