Default What do you guys think my "starting issue" is??

Well a couple weeks ago, I noticed my battery would die only after having the music on/lights on for a few minutes after the car was shut off. So I went to oreileys and they said that its 'probably' the battery. I havent gotten it changed yet. But I noticed during the past week or so. It struggles to start everytime. It takes about 3 seconds, and then starts. I thought maybe it was just a bad connection? But it restarts my tripometer, but doesnt put my radio settings back to factory like every other time the battery is disconnected...
Any ideas?

c'mon man, at least rule something out for us....

get the battery tested, make sure the terminals or wires aren't corroded, drive around for awhile and see if it starts easier after the alternator gives the battery some juice....do something.

Yea, you have to start somewhere. Did you check to see if the ground is on tight ? Mine was doing that and it was just a slightly loose ground.

Sounds like an error behind the steering wheel.

I said I took it to Oreileys. They tested it and said that it was "probably" the battery( I think its a combination of the battery and maybe something else, since its lagging on start up now). The terminals/wires are not corroded at all. And I'll double check to if theres a loose connection in a couple minutes.

My car has a similar issue. A real slow start...takes a few cycles to crank. The shop told me the header heat has caused my starter to go bad. Havent replaced the started yet.....

Redneck solution 101. Why not swap batteries from another ride for a day or so to find out if thats truely your issue. Should tell you right away if the BATTERY itself is the issue, no?

Are you sure its a LS1 battery?

I had similar problems before and it was the connections. Looked fine and tight but I lightly sanded them down and made sure they were snug (not too tight!) and it fixed my problem. Obviously, your issue could be the battery too.

Still want to buy mine?

Check the battery connections, not only at the battery but at the main harness and starter as well. Pour some coke on the terminals to eat the corrosion.

I know you are cheap, but cmon. Is it really easier to get on here and ask before you just, change the battery? How old is it? If its 3 years old, then change it. Its time. If you eliminate the battery, then you know its not the problem. A weak battery will make the car take longer to start. The starter turns slower, the injectors and coils dont have the proper voltage, the pcm has probably lost its memory of idle and fuel trims because the proper voltage hasnt been maintained. This stuff relearns within seconds of starting.I could tell you that its 100 different things and you never change the battery and it be the battery. Please just do the obvious and change it and then report back with your findings. Josh

Cheap? Try a college student that doenst have "spare" money to throw around. And, yes it is easier for me to come on here and ask peoples opinions on what the problem could be, instead of going around spending money on parts that I may not need. I am likely going change the battery tomorrow though. But it hasnt been 'high' on my to-do list as of late with finals the past wk(ended yesterday)/work etc.
Thanks for the help.

I understand that. But cmon, buy 3 less cases of beer and you have a battery. I have seen your pics of beer pong, partys, etc. You have a nice car also. If you were poor then you wouldnt have the T/A.
