Default Im changing my window motor right now... have a quick question...

According to shoebox's directions. I should use a c-clamp to keep the window up(when its in the up position). My window is stuck down. Do I need to do anything to the window?
http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor19.html
Also, my window motor is currently bolted in, not riveted in. When I try to loosen up the bolts, the entire screw spins. Any idea on how to keep the back part from spinning? Theres not enough room to get anything behind it...

there is a bolt and nut holding it on your either going to need the right size 5/6/or7 mm wrench or a set of pliers to hold it from the back its a bitch but you have to find a way

also the second you take that motor out you need to have the window taped UP or use the c clamp or whatever..its easier to get the bolts on the other side of the window when its up so try to force the window up for now and get it taped up

for the screws, maybe try to get some vise-grip pliers back there to grab onto it.

Ive been trying to get the window up for days. it wont budge.

Also, the way that the person before me changed the motor. Is the nut is facing me. So I cant get ahold of the screw driver part. Its on the other side.

There is a small tool in Advance Auto Parts that will fit there it is kind of like a small torque rench. It also comes with a set of screw driver bits. Back I year ago I was able to take it out with this. I never said that it was easy.

LOL have fun....

Try a butter knife, any kind of flat metal that will fit in the head of that screw. Should not be that hard at all.

if it wouldnt go up its because the motor is what holds it, after you remove the motor you can move it up and down and install the motor, to hold its position..
as far as not being able to get a tool in go buy a cheapo one dollard stubby flat headed screw drive or a pocket screw driver while you loossen it

one of the wheels in the track? theres 2 wheels (plastic) that are part of the scissor mechanism that go left and right, and 1 plastic wheel that goes up and down in the back of the window (this one guides for the curve). The motor/gear drives the other side. so, has one of them popped out of the track?

Well duffster generously drove all the way to SM from converse and got here at about 1am. He was able to get the motor swapped out, and left shortly ago. Gotta be honest though. Tonight wasnt a good night for my car and I.

First, SeanSS from AFB came over to try to help at roughly 10pm. After noticing that the screws appeared to be stripped. He had the idea to dremel them off. Needless to say. That did nothing, but throw sparks on my tint (at some point, Im going to need to replace it). But he was over here for a couple hours, and I appreciate the time he spent trying to lend a hand. Thanks man.

Then, when Duff came over. I put a light on the floor of the car. Bad idea. Wasnt paying attention and Duff noticed a smell. The damn light was melting my damn floor panel . At least he noticed before it did too much damage.

Thanks for the help y'all. Now I can park my car outside of this damn garage. But damn, I'm still going to have a hard time going to bed tonight after all the mishaps I had/the things I have to replace now. lmao.

$100 another door in junk yard + $100 for a friend to hook you up to match the paint unless your lucky to find another silver door = $200 less of frustration and knuckle pinching. Things like that is why I always let someone else do the work and pay them a little for it. . $60 labor is the usual labor they charge. Good luck on your motor change, I think your door is trying to mind **** with ya.

Good deal. For the future though, always put the nut on the back side and use the screw head side your visible side. It's the easiest way by far...
