well i have had this setup in my car for about 3 months and im loving it, but i will be going bigger when i get the time and money. the best part is that i did everything myself, and ill be doing the big 3 too unless i get too frustrated/pissed/confused.

as it is now, it GETS DOWN much to the dismay of my battery and alternator. im probably gonna get around to doing the big 3 this week or next, which is much needed and hopefully it fixes my dimming problem.

so the only thing thats keeping me from being any louder is size constraints for obvious reasons, im sure if i made the box bigger it would get louder. also im pretty sure the subs are raping this amp with no lube, so i try to keep it reasonably low

ok heres some pics and video.

did u have to do the big 3? if so did it fix your dimming issues?

i have done big 3 with 1/0 also put a yellow top in and with that it seemed to help alot. Most higher end subs sound better in a big ported box which is what I used to have, this smaller sealed box doesnt sound as good to me. If your looking to do big 3 I would recommend getting your wire from knukonceptz.com cheap price very high quality.

Have you put any polyfil in your sub box?
If not try putting 1lb. in each chamber.

can you still store the T-tops?

can you still store the T-tops?

yeah in the backseat lol!

i just got done doing the big 3 and im not pleased with the results. basically i did about 3 hours of work with the same end result. the battery gauge in the car is reading a little higher but my lights are still dimming, i guess the next step is an optima red top which i wont be able to afford for a while.

ill be doing a big 3 upgrade soon. how much did the batt gauge increase ?

the "big 3" as people call it, while worthwile to do from an attention to detail aspect if you are going all out on your stereo upgrade, does little for actually helping performance. The wires in question are relatively short in length, and the decreased resistance of upgrading them usually doesn't make a noticeable improvement.

As for the battery, I would recommend a yellow top, as they can handle higher current demands better then the reds (being deep cycled). But I would still not expect a miracle improvement. A cap, or several caps may help if the dimming is not that bad, otherwise, an upgraded alternator is the way to go.

thanks for the advice!! how much would i be spending for such an alternator?? and i guess yellow top is the way to go, i dont know much about optimas i just read that the red tops have more cold cranking amps so i just thought the red top was the more poweful of the two.

also, i noticed that for some reason whenever we wired everything up when i first put the system in we didnt go to the battery. its connected to the positive terminal on the fuse block, across from the battery. im pretty sure that since its connected like this that the big 3 didnt help because i didnt upgrade the wire from the battery to the fuse block. hopefully u can understand what im trying to say, but do you think it would benefit me to hook it up straight to the battery?? if i do, its gonna be a pain in the ass since im either gonna have to figure out a way to extend the wire to the amp or run a new one (not likely lol).

well before mine would stay a little above 13, now its reading about 15-16. of course using the factory gauge in the car.

Get two Apline Pdx1.1000 and thatwill be loud, or get the X series from alpine, and then you will in the high nosie area

those amps would be awesome, but like i said in the first post im pretty sure my box is restricting me from being much louder. if i wanna upgrade im gonna have to get creative with the box.

This box will give your subs almost twice the air apace as your current Qlogic enclosure.

i have seen big3 help huge with dimming issues in fbodys and many other cars for that matter

part of ur problem is u ran ur amp wire to the aux terminal not the actual battery, move it to the battery and it shoudl help alot

Wow, Ur gauge jumped from 13 to 15-16 and ur still not pleased, to me that is a big improvment, i would be more than happy if that happend to me :D

and yes like what pentavolvo and Mike @ FbodyAudio have said u need a Capacitor and go direct to the battery.

dilatedpeoples28
12-30-2008, 11:33 PM
start with going directly to the batt, then I would get a yellow top or a cap. I have same subs and around the same rms watts. I have big 3 done, yellow top and a 2 farad cap, and I only get a slight dim on the dash lights (I have HIDs so cant tell anything on the headlights). But results may vary :D. if that doesn't work then high output alternator is your only option really

I missed the part about the amp wire going to the aux terminal. Yes, go right to the battery first before trying anything else.

thanks for the advice, now i gotta figure out how to make it work since the existing wire wont reach to the other side. :(

there is a little hole just above the passenger side feet its about 2.5 inch in diameter. it is used to connect the pcm harness to the internal (dash harness), just remove the rubber seal and extend ur wire from there.

hope that helps.

^ make sure you seal that hole back up where you pass the power wire though. If not when it rains the inside of the car will be soaded.
I have a real similar box posted above. What Db are you running? do you know.

no its never been metered, also my box it quite a bit bigger than the ordinary qlogic box. me and my dad added to the bottom of it so it takes up all the space with just enough room for the amp to sit b/t the floor and the box.
