Yellowstone Earthquake
Interesting article...http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081230/...owstone_quakes
I read that YS was 1 of 5 supervolcanoes in the world and that if it erupted it would wipe out vegetation for hundreds of miles either way much less a significant impact on the world's weather for a couple of years. They also said this type of eruption occurs within 650,000 years like clockwork (within +- 20,000 years). They have traced 4-5 of these eruptions if I remember right. The last occurred 650000 years ago. So, going by history we could have one now or maybe in 20,000 years..........
Yellowstone is actually overdue, and scientists are saying that when it blows, it could be 2500 times more powerful than the mount st. helens eruption in 1980.

Yeah I remember watching a Discovery channel special or something like that. A strong YS explosion next week could have as much force to damaging most of the northern part of the U.S. (everything from the state of Washington to almost the great lakes area).
Texas is in a relatively safe spot.

yeah i saw that a while back on discovery channel. The only thing is, like you say give or take 20,000 years. People may be gone by then. If you want to scare yourself look up the 2012 mayan calender predicition that the world is going to end. We still use the calender and it is very accurate at predicting solar movements and we are going to be aligned with a black hole in 2012. Scientists think it could reverse the poles and flood the earth. It has been predicted by a few different people and is backed by science. Or look up the amero, a currency for mexico united states and canada.
