I was looking at the 2 also and I have a set of 243 heads so I can geth the ls6 2.5 dont to them for the same price as the 5.3 and have them milled a bit.
the ls6 2.5 flows
.200 147
.300 207
.400 258
.500 294
.600 316
tsp 5.3 2.5
.300 208
.400 257
.500 290
.600 312
If I did not have the 243 heads I would go the 5.3 route because of the smaller port and the price. the compression was not a factor for me because both heads can get to 10.75 to 1

GREAT question. I just bought the 228R + 5.3 combo. BUT if I had more money I would have went aftermarket heads. Between the PRC 243's and 5.3's I went with the 5.3's mostly because of price and because it seems they will be slightly better on the street with throttle response and low-mid range.

Well I have read almost every post in almost every thread and there still is not a concise answer and there is still a lot of misinformation out there. I do not agree at all with the closing of this poll. What harm could it do? On the other hand I am sure there are still plenty of people who would like to see the results and more opinions on the subject.

I like my PRC LS6 stg 2.5 heads. Not the best heads out there, but I think it leaves the options open in the future as to what can be done vice getting the 5.3's. If you know exactly where you want to go and the 5.3's fit in that plan, then by all means get them.

It really depends what you want to use the car for. If you are building a track car that won't see a ton of street time you would want to go with the 2.5 LS6 heads because they will have better air flow especially at the top of the powerband. If the car is built primarily to be a street car I prefer to recommend the 5.3l heads because they will have more power in the lower RPMs. This is due to the smaller intake runner and smaller combustion chamber.

i was debating on getting the stage 2.5 5.3 or 2.5 ls6 heads as well. I am currently using nitrous as my power adder of choice, what do you guys think would work out better?
