Quick question about how a cam sounds?
I have an 00 WS6 M6 and I am getting ready to throw a cam in there. My car currently has: lid, 85mm throttle body, LS6 style intake manifold, hooker super comp long tube headers, tsp off road y pipe into an electric cutout, and an EFI Live tune. The cam is a custom grind 228/234 .588/.598 112+2 I am putting this cam in my WS6 soon. I know a guy that has this same camshaft in his LS3 firebird except his is a 112+4 and mine is a 112+2. I realize that he has a bigger displacement engine and different heads, but should this cam sound the same in an LS1 as it would in an LS3 at idle?Do different heads change the sound of a camshaft? Here is a clip of his car

I was just curious is mine would have the same chop/idle as his.

it will actually sound a little more radical in the smaller engine....its kinda like how the truck guys can use a 220r in a 5.3 and it sound like a beast and the same cam in a ls1 sounds like a baby....if all you are asking is will it sound nasty...yes it will looks like it will have around 7 degrees of overlap at .050 so it should sound real nice...

I think it is all in the exhaust for the most part. In the last couple months we have put three different exhausts on the same cam car and each time it was a completely different sound. my .2
