Default degreeing a cam,is it a must do?

when installing a cam do you have to degree it? does degreeing do anything for performance or only tell the cam numbers.(lift/dur). THANKYOU, MIKE C.

degreeing a cam is like bluepriting the engine, it's not a requirement but it definately can and will help performance and also help your piece of mind knowing that its installed correctly
