Default 15" rims on 02 F body

I see you guys are running 15 inch wheels and tires. I have a set of almost new 275 60 15 MT drag radials from my old 1st gen. What would I have to do to make them work on my 02 F body? I have stock 10 bolt (for now) with LCA, Adj TA, SFC. Will they hook better than the 17" MT DR I have on there now? Looking at approx 500 to the RWs with auto.

The 4th gen requires much more backspacing than the older cars...a 15x10 needs 7.5" backspace to tuck under correctly. 15x8 needs a 5.5"...Then you have to contend with the bigger disk brakes in the rear and caliper clearance...Most wheels will require some sort of caliper grinding for clearance...Bogart, Centerline, and Billet Specialties make 15" wheels that in most cases are a bolt on and go fitment...

The wheels from your 1st gen probably won't have enough backspace to fit under the rear quarters...sorry...

I figured I would have to buy new rims, I was wondering what kind of modifications I would need to do, or if anyone made a rim that would basically bolt on. Is there any advantage to running the 15 in vs the 17 or 18?

If you are looking for a Direct bolt on rear we offer the Billet Specialties street lites in the proper fittment. 15x10 7.5" of BS. If you want skinny fronts also, we offer a 15x4 which requires a little grinding.

What backspacing would be required to run a 15x6 or 15x7 up front? Would there be a need for grinding the calipers?

yes you need to grind your calipers with a 15x4 or more unless you have drag brakes ....

Our Bogart drag wheels are designed to be a direct fit wheel for the front and rear brakes of your car. We are the only lightest direct fit combo on the market that set the backspace correctly for the FRONT and rear.

Using any other wheel combination other than our Bogart direct fit wheels will be like leaving a minimum of 50lbs on your car.

Give me a call if you need assistance.

I didn't ask if I needed to grind with 15x4, I asked if I needed to grind with 15x6 or 15x7.

Yes, to an unsafe extent. You cannot run anything wider than 15x4 on the front of these cars.

Can I build it, sure! I won't advocate using such a wide wheel on the car for a front wheel. This means you're planning to run a large radial in attempt to create better steering/braking capabilities....

It will not provide any good solution for drag racing. 15" wheels are best suited for drag racing applications. 15's due to the nature of a larger sidewall creates worse handling characteristics over even the stock sized tires. You may as well leave the stock wheels on the car as weight differences will be so small that it's not worth the time.

Why bother spending 1000.00+ on a setup that really won't benefit you from a performance standpoint. If you want a street/strip setup, just pickup a set of summit prostars. They will be heavy like any other street setup configuration...but cost you only 4-500.00 (or somewhere around there).

I was told Bogarts can't be left on for any period of time under the cars weight or they will warp/bend.

Whoever told you that should never consider racing, in fact they should hand the keys over to someone more competent to drive and be a passenger only.

I've been looking for this guy for years...he's the one that tells people to change the air in tires as it can go stale. Next time you see him, call the authorities

Well I've had bogarts as evidence in my pic and loved the rear setup on my slicks very lightweight driven on the street every day no but then again that was not the reason why I bought them. Street use I got my stockers track got my bogarts hopefully I can feel the difference only had draglites on a 87GN for my only skinnies but the bogarts should be good. Very happy with the customer service I experienced with them as well. Found out about them from this board.

Both are on this board. One keeps them on because he sold his stock wheels and has one that is bent. The other has two sets of wheels and hasn't had the bend but uses his other set due to knowing about the issue. I'm not calling them out here. If they want to add to this they can. I don't have Bogarts or want them so it doesn't matter to me one way or the other.
