N00b question: Buying parts from a salvage yard
I am putting a rearend back together and need the parking brakes and a few other little parts (those little hoops for the parking brake lines, etc.). I've never bought parts from a salvage yard, but it seems like this would be a good place to look for stuff like this. How does it work, exactly? I figure I'll call around and ask a few places if they have any 98-02 F-bodies with the rear axles intact, then do I grab my tools and head out there myself or what?
Thanks in advance.

Usually they will tell you to go and pull them yourself..
last few times I been to salvage yard, I have pulled all my parts.. take them inside and they stand there and determine what value the part might have and make up their prices.
LOL
sometimes you can get away really good on pricing..
I had a 3rd gen that I had to replace a **** load of interior parts....
walked out of the salvage yard for about 50 bucks...
total price on the parts new.. almost 1000...... LOL
so you can get some great deals... most of the time you have to get really lucky to find what you need though..

your such a noob mike
pretend like u dont know what ur buying, that will always get u parts cheaper,a friend here walked around and found a wrecked 96z with borla...so he told the guy at the salvage yard that he needed a muffler and some seats to put on a car he needs to sell quick...so he pointed at the z and said how bout these, they look like they'll work!
so needless to say,he bought all four 4th gen seats and a borla catback for $200...
