firehawk wide ovals are pretty good if the weather is warm, and they have a nice rim protector

Riken Raptor. Made by Michelin. They are sticky for a street tire, wear good and are affordable. My 275/40/17's were $125 a piece....

Agreed--they are my Summer tires. I have BFG SuperSport A/S for the winter.

I have Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 275/40/17 on my Formula. They were the big thing to have a while back for a street tire. I don't know how they stack up now compared to newcomers, but they do well for me. They are also a summer-only tire, but they have a good wet rating too.

For the winter I use Blizzak WS-50 tires on cheap steel wheels. Blizzak stopped making the WS-50. They now have the WS-60 to replace it. It is slightly different with a higher speed rating. I don't know how it compares.

Just don't get them wet... I have them on my 16s (245/55/16) and I still easily lose traction on wet pavement - and that's with a V6! A torquey V6, but still a V6. The wear however is extremely good and unless you're in autocross/road race conditions, they have enough grip for DD use - just not in the rain.

For Firehawk 17" rims I can't make a blind recommendation for street tires. The fronts on mine were a Firestone Firehawk model that has since been discontinued and the rears currently have Nitto 555s (not 555R's) which still don't hook very well at all. If you're looking to hook, never drive in the rain, and don't care about replacing summer tires every 20k or less, 555R's are a good bet for the price... I bought 2 recently to put on the rear Firehawk wheels.

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 275/40/17 PRICE: 255 a pz.. expensive but worth it for the front tires
and
Nitto 555R Drag Radials 275/40/17 PRICE: 180 a pz for the rears

if you have over 300hp at the wheels, your still going to spin a bitfrom a stop, but you wont ever spin from a roll, and thats what makes the nittos awesome. i have 350whp and 368wtq and i never spin on a 20 roll....well with the bald ones i do, but good treadlife nittos are amazing on the street
