lifter ticking
Just installed a new motor 5.3l in an 01 p/u. I installed a lunati cam with brand new g.m. lifters. Started the engine and noticed at approx 1200 rpm and higher i get a lifter tick.At idle you cant hear it. Thought it might be a pushrod or rocker (both stock g.m.) so i replaced all on the pass/side. That didnt help. One thing i noticed when you look down the pushrod hole at the first 2 lifters on the pass front side, they look dry.All others on that bank appear to be oiling fine..Anybody help figure this one out?

No I did replace the o-ring when I rebuilt the motor. Today I pulled the r/s head and replaced all the lifters on that side. Couldn't find anything wrong with the first set of lifters but replace them just to be sure. Well as my luck would have it......same ticking. Could it be a cam bearing installed wrong?
I use a well known machine shop here in houston that i have used in the past without any problems. I just dont believe its the oil pump oring. It sounds like the front 2 lifters are being starved of oil. Please i need some of you experts on here to give a brother some advise.

I would say im 99% sure it is installed correctly, but is this what it sounds like it might be? Im almost to the point to install a zipper lol. It would make tear-downs a whole lot easier. Should i pull the pan next? Can i remove it without pulling the engine? 2001 silverado 5.3l

if the vehicle has been running at full operating temp and is still at 45lbs Idle then I doubt its your Oring. Mine usually Was sitting at 45 to 50 at idle when it first reached operating temp and then slowly dropped off to 20-25 PSI the longer the motor was run at full temp as the oil would thin out, seep through the Oring, and suck air into the pickup. Im thinking you need a pushrod checker to make sure the Geometry is correct as stated above.
