Ls6 engine swap in 2001 camaro
I am swaping a ls6 in my camaro is there any thing i might run into that will be any trouble? also will the ls1 wiring harness work?

It is a very easy swap. You need to swap the ls6 balancer and oil pan over from the ls1. Also you will need to convert to the ls6 pcv set up instead of the ls1 if you have the ls6 valley plate. The ls1 wiring harness works great and my car is running on the stock tune. One of these days I'll find the money to get it tuned. Your intake is an ls6 on the 2001 so that works fine. I found a lot of info on here about this swap so do a little research and you should have no problems

It is fairly easy. Usually the LS6 engines come with either a Corvette or a CTS-V oil pan, so you will need to put your existing F-body oil pan onto it.

thanks for all the help. what all will i need for the swap? i still have all the parts from my ls1. It come with every ting seen in the picture
So all my stock engine mounts will work?
Also why wont the stock pcv work?

Stock engine mounts will work, but I would probably upgrade them now while it is easy. I forgot to add that you will also need to put your crank pulley on, since the Corvette one is different.

I did the same swap into my '01. I didn't have any troubles either. I too am still running the LS1 maps without a problem either. Just make sure you disconnect all of your ground straps

So the Ls6 will basically drop and bolt right in with the exception of transferring the crank cover and oil pan from the ls1 to the Ls6 along with the engine mounts.
Also what all needs to be done to the Pcv from the Ls1 to convert it to LS6?

I have a 01 LS6 in my car...the stock motor took a **** at 43k when I bought it from a dealership and since I do the landscaping for the GM dealership and know the owner real well, they were able to pull strings and get me a local left over LS6 Long block cheaper then a LS1 long block from the factory...runs real strong. I know they put my LS1 pan on it but I think thats all they did...other wise it went right in.

If installing the complete engine pictured it already has the ls6 valley plate and pcv hose routing. The oil pan should be swapped from the ls1 to the new engine and the balancer/crank pulley will need swapped as well. You can find the info on ls6 pcv conversion on ls1howto.com. I hope it is Ok I posted the name of another web site here. I did my swap at work on the lift and dropped the motor,trans,and sub frame as one. The ls6 I installed was a gm crate direct long block.
