Default WHAT'S this?

i'm not sure if this would be the right section or not, but i'm wondering what this canister type thing over the right valve cover and exhaust manifold is?

i want to remove it, or relocate it because it's a big eye sore, but i'm not sure what it is?

help me out.

are there any wires or hoses running to it?, try to trace where they go. I know I never had anything like that on my 94.

If you can unplug it, do so, and if it throws any codes or anything else you know its essential to running the motor.

hope that helps a little bit

well it's some kind of electric motor, and it used to have this big plastic cover like on the side of the throttle body, but i took it off.

it hase a connection going to it, and it also has some kind of cables.

not sure where they go.
but i'm thinking they have something to do with the cruise control. any idea?

Could this be a California car exclusive emissions type deal??

Some better pictures would certainly help us all out.

i'll try and get some better pictures today when i get home, and i'll post them up asap.

my car's a 1997-1/2, so it's the last cars they made with the lt1 and body style, but it has the ls1 style interior/dash/center console... idk if that would make a difference or not.

not sure if it has anything to do with emmissions, nor has the car been in california that i know of.
i've also searched around, and i'm completely clueless as to what it is aswell, no other car i've seen has this "tumor". haha.

i'll see if i can find a part number on it as well.

check back once i've gotten pictures please.
i'd really like to find out what the heck this thing is.
lol

there arn't any wierd buttons on the interior.
the cruise control works the same way it did in my firebird.

my car does have traction control, and i think it does have some cables going to it.
not sure how many. the black plastic casing that was on it was engraved with "see owners manuel for throttle cable adjustment" or something along those lines.

That's definitely traction control. It says "Bosch" on it, right?

P.S. - For Pete's sake, get a cold air intake!!!

that is the TCS module. usually LT1's have a cover that says ASR but yours seems to be missing the cover
